KING CHECKMATE wrote:Not really. at a 20 mill cap Many players could play forever having unlimited respecs. You reach 20 mil SP and play as assault, next month I'll be heavy. Fun forever.
Why play? for ISK. And that is the base of the issue.
We have these players who's heads are in the clouds, dreaming of a day where DUST will be a big and glorious game that resonates within the EVE universe, and they are firmly against admitting that it simply is not so, nor will it be so anywhere in the near future. They believe that DUST is filled with opportunity and diversity, blindly ignoring that all roles can be covered quite well with a fairly small amount of SP if you just focus a bit. They think this is EVE where there is a massive wealth of skills and things to do, and they RP in their heads when they play, to make the game feel larger than it actually is.
They think that people being able to spend their SP on new interesting things without re doing the SP grind, over and over, will somehow magically grant that player additional SP, as if his changing roles would ever impact you as a player. I'm sorry that you might actually have to use spies if you'd like to know what the opponent is going to field, but instead you'd rather just get used to what everyone runs and imagine that they won't soon have all relevant builds maxed and there will be no variety anyways. |

It's fair I think. respec your character, never accrue any more sp. i like that. Because you want to punish people for not living in the clouds and thinking that they're a unique snowflake and that you have an identity in DUST that anyone gives a **** about.
No one does.
This game is niche, with a tiny player base. When you know the majority of the names you face on the day to day, you know your FPS is freaking small. |

Aikuchi Tomaru wrote: Why's that? The reason why there aren't any respecs is because you can skill everything. If you are able to respec there wouldn't be any point in getting unlimited SP.
Who said anything about unlimited back to back respecs?
It's actually our side of the fence that are quite open to reasonable discussion on alternatives, but the Amarrian pride is showing in all those true bloods who feel their opinion is virtuous and true, and that all should suffer the wrath of daring to question their station.
Respec does not turn 10 million SP into 100 million SP

low genius wrote:no, because it gives weight to your decision. if you really want to trade in all the skills you've trained (which is completely against the lore of the game) then play a game that does that. we like this game because it doesn't do that. Maybe there's weight to your decision in a vast and full game like EVE where you are rather disconnected from your actual character. Much of the gameplay isn't even spent in ship for some, or at least no where near combat.
I don't care either way for the simple fact that this game is drowing in noobs and it's impossible to not stomp people no matter how much SP you have. I just want to go back to where I was before they offered the last respec, even if they never fix the ******* dropships. I'm sorry some of us can't handle the anxiety of the nightmare that is logistics dropship flying, I've only just formulated basically the best fit and flight pattern to make it sort of kind of technically work, but god forbid a couple proto AVs show up on the other team on comms.
Same goes for tanks, and anyone who somehow thought scout LAVs were a good idea. Your weight is sitting through months if not YEARS of CCPs inability to properly balance their game. (it took CCP over 1 year to change the logistics dropship PG / CPU to compensate for the CRU they forced on you.)
People who think their decisions have weight in DUST are delusional, as all it takes is a bit of player skill to overcome everything but proto squads, and even then. You fill just one role, and everything else is fluff. You want to believe that this is real life though, or at least that it is EVE, and sadly, it is neither.

R'adeh Hunt wrote:Respec granted...one condition though:
If you do a respec, all your suits will be neon pink for 12 months and some SP will be deducted and put into assault dropships and plasma cannon proficiency. Only if all assault dropships are bright pink, and the plasma cannon shoots rainbow charges. Also, when exiting the dropship in midair, you actually stand on top of the ship, and gain rapid fire with infinite ammo, though you cannot reenter the ship, and no one can enter the cockpit while you're on top of the ship. |
