Since random blueberries often are determinant for the result of the battle there should be some incentive for them to play well and in squad.
Basically what I propose is that each member in a squad gains 10% of the total squad WP at the end of the battle. More people will join squads to help gaining orbitals and increased teamplay.
This must not be used as an exploit, so there should be some sort of limitation: - work only if 5-6 squad (2 person squad equals no bonus) - must have done at least 10% of all the squad points to receive bonus - must have been in squad for a certain amount of time before the battle end
Also I would add a new set of voices in the warbarge to suggest blueberries to squad up, such as: "Gain your war point faster, join a squad now" "Tired of playing alone? Join your team squad now" "Short on kills? Short on wins? Join a squad now" (yeah, they sound as the current voice :D )
I can also see a new set of tip text to put on the loading screens.
Btw, squads can be locked if you don't want berries.. |

Duck Gun wrote:Well actually each squad member gains more WP already if they follow the squad orders. Killing an enemy close to a set squad order yields 60 WP instead of the normal 50 or hacking a squad order objective yields 120 WP instead of the standard 100. So on that perspective it's already in place, it's just the incompetent squad leaders that don't know how to set squad directives properly and thus fail to utilize this gain for their squad.
I know about the increased 20% WP, but this is only given by squad orders. Also if you join a squad, hardly you get any of those bonuses unless you always stick near the marker, careless if its a random noob. Do you often give defend marker to random blueberries when they join your non-solo squad?
The whole idea is to involve blueberries more in teamplay, even without having them to follow orders.. (think of a snipers, scouts and pilots).
Maybe could be a good idea to give 10% points increase if you kill/hack nearby any squad member. E.g., if a snipers kills an enemy that was at 30m of a squad member, then it gets 10% increase. Same goes for hacking, this will reduce solo players..
Duck Fun wrote: When I play PUB games solo I usually join up on a squad. However in many occasions I also get kicked out from a squad for one or the other reason. Perhaps because I don't bother to use my mic on random games or then the guys just want to stick with themselves.
True that they often kick you out, also true that you often do more points than them just to show them that they kicked out the orbital loader :D

Sparadok wrote: You make some good points but there is one thing that prevents this from happening from the outset, we all join a match in our respective chosen chat channels so with minimal time on the warbarge before a match switching chat channels isn't always going to be a priority. I would suggest to CCP that all comms channels default to "Team Chat" when joining the warbarge, this would make lines of communication open from the outset. If you don't want to be in teamchat you then need to select away. Not without It's own pitfalls but would at least give half a chance of getting some sort of cohesion.
This is true, but its also true that not everybody talks english so even with comm on team it doesnt mean people will team up. Also lag would kill us all if we all keep voice on team..
Squad finder seems to help a lot in fixing this issue, public squad will get full pretty easily but a full squad doesn't mean assured teamplay.
I think that my original idea, to give some bonus SP to who really teamplays, its still valid to incentivate people into play. |

CLONE117 wrote:^ and it makes the trolling problem in game much worse at the same time. I agree, friendly fire doesn't help in teamplaying. Especially in a game such as Dust, where you get hate mails everyday, I would not even spawn if I know friendly fire is enabled.
Everybody loves WP, so I think that's they way to incentivate squad play |
