Hi there, after reading the following on the announcement forum I can't help but wonder what's gonna happen to the Mercenary pack for $20 usd as I'll never buy a Vet or Elite pack unless they lower the prices of those!
Anyone confirm that the Merc Pack is on it's way out just leaving behind the Vet and Elite packs?

With the deployment of Uprising 1.5 we will be making an important change to the in-game market with regards to Blueprint items. This means that after the Uprising 1.5 patch has been deployed, all existing Blueprint items GÇô including militia items GÇô will no longer be available via the in-game market. This will be an important step towards forging a robust in-game economy for DUST 514, and establish a solid foundation for implementing key economic features for the game in the future.
Note that Blueprint items will still be available on the PSN Store via the Veteran and Elite packs.
So donGÇÖt forget to take advantage of the in-game market now to secure items that you may need before they are gone from the in-game store!
FAQ:
Q: What is a Blueprint? A: Blueprint originals or BPOs (sometimes simply referred to as Blueprints), are items of unlimited quantity that are always re-usable upon the death of your mercenary clone. Unlike other items in game, Blueprint items do not need to be restocked after death. These items can be identified by their blue bordered icon in game.
Q: What happens to my existing Blueprints? A: Your existing Blueprints will remain in your inventory. Note that from the 8th of October, you will be unable to purchase new Blueprints except via the Veteran and Elite packs on the PlayStation-« Store.
Q: If I purchase Veteran/Elite packs or use another code for a Blueprint, do I still get the Blueprint items within those packs? A: Yes.
Q: Will Blueprints be returning to the in-game market? A: There are currently no plans to return Blueprints to the in-game market. |

Removing a source of income seems risky. Who really buys the BPOs anyways since they removed the good ones?
But, I was looking at a Vet Pack just for the LAV BPO.
Removing the Merc Pack and its BPOs seems kinda silly. Its a great way for them to generate Aurum from less committed players, and a great way to stockpile ISK from the merc's perspective. My 'Dragonfly' C-1 and 'Toxin' AR have become valuable assests that I'm kind of pissed about not getting earlier. (4 Months worth of Boosters was nice too.) |

I wonder if they are going to offer variants of the Elite and Vet packs.... I hope they do. |

Yeah me too, especially if they're removing the Merc Pack, that would give us no cheap options at all unless they're changing the prices of the two remaining packs... fingers crossed! |

BPOs are for veteran players really. They come in handy on Protosuits to keep the prices down.
I assume they are limiting them because CCP never got any business with them. |

What I do like about this announcement is this "This will be an important step towards forging a robust in-game economy for DUST 514, and establish a solid foundation for implementing key economic features for the game in the future."
However, I now know that when CCP says in the future they really frickin' mean it! So maybe a year or 2 from now |

I assume they are limiting them because CCP never got any business with them. About BPO's being for veteran players, that's not true at all... Who would put 4 milita shield extenders (just an example!) on a proto suit??!? What's expensive about a protosuit is the protosuit and the weapon, if you're looking at bringing prices down then you put standard or advanced modules on the suit, not militia BPO stuff.
And I don't care that they're taking them off of the marketplace but do care that they're removing one of the three packs availabla and only leaving the two most expensive options. |
