When I first started playing this game, I was to impatient to watch the tutorial. I knew nothing. I go into my first game after the battle academy and I die about 100 times, and got maybe 1 assist. Why? Why can't I kill anybody? Protosuite..okay. Protogun..That explains me dying in .12 miliseconds. I've heard and discussed with quite a few people now that a game mode in which you could choose to play where NO ONE had proto anything would be preferred. On the flipside there should be one like there is now, and also one where you can go ALL Proto. I'm sure its posted on here somewhere, but I figured I would create my first post since I just joined the forums. Other than that. Now that I have a corp and run in squads it's a lottttt better. I almost didn't come back to the game though, and i'm sure being proto-stomped scared off quite a few others. |

It is honestly not the Proto anything that makes the merc but rather the SP assigned to allow them to be in proto gear. Talking about fits with my corp members we all have said it is the squad that makes us good, not running around solo and hunting by ourselves makes us great. There is a new feature coming in 1.5 that should help people who are new and don't know anyone find people to squad up with and I am sure that this should resolve many of the existing proto stomp problems. BTW when was the last time you killed a proto in a pub match? If they come out after the first death in proto gear they are losing money if killed a second time. Make it a goal to kill a proto-bear today. |

Glad you didn't quit. Takes time to get "good enough" gear, and about that long to learn how to use it.
But as stated already, consider every match a "how much can I cost them" game and your time with protobear will pass by with a sense of accomplishment. Fighting protobear is not about purely W/L, but enemy isk cost per match. |

And this is exactly why DUST should display total ISK destroyed / lost after the battle. This information is of much greater relevance than K/D ratio. |

Agreed. As one person argued, it's the skill put into it. But odds are, a guy with that much SP is running say a Duvolle, and probably has some major points geared to it. I have prof. 5 and SS 5, and I drop people in ridiculous speeds with a Duvolle. Which is why I don't use them often.
There's no skill in it. No real game. GEK's proved that, and that's only ADV. gear. So as a guy who can use proto weapons (AR, Sniper rifle, SMG's), I choose not to. Maybe for a corp match, but that's it.
The sad part is a lot of these guys that do run around with proto gear actually think they're the bomb. It would be interesting to see them don militia suits, mods and weapons and go up against guys wearing proto gear, and then see how they do. That to me would be a true test of skill. |

Hahhahaha. I bet they go 3-20 ! A lot of them only run proto because they SUCK. I like how you play man, fair. I still don't have good gear, but I've gotten better. A lot of times I won't even go into a war zone, even with my repper. I let them come to me and start rippin them up with my HMG. |

i do that and win on a daily bases...
of course i have none of my 12m sp put into dropsuit command... most of the sp is into weaponry and core skills....
im still having trouble with the average proto bear but they r starting to die more often to me now that ive figured out shotguns work great against them in cqc...
but a gear restriction should still be added to the game.
its not really the sp so much as the dropsuit and stuff added to it.

Disagree. I can have literally three times as much HP as a starting merc whilst hitting harder, having more tactical utilities, and healing faster. That's not the assigned SP, that's the protosuit. |

Improvements to matchmaking should improve this.
There is a simple way to handle matchmaking. Each person is assigned a matchmaking rank (internally on the server) based on skills, k/d, and heavily weighted to how your rank is at the end of each match. If your team wins and your WPs, K/D etc. are above the median for your team by a significant margin, then you should get a "penalty" by increasing your matchmaking rank significantly. Do this a few times and you'll find yourself constantly matched up with the best players in the game. Likewise, if you find yourself constantly being crushed, you'll find yourself facing easier opponents. This system will find a natural equilibrium as people gear/skill up without having to put in hard gear requirements. |

I absolutely agree with this. This would put the fight back into a lot of players who have grown tired of the grind. A lot of times you know you cost someone a load of ISK, but seeing it in real numbers would make it real and motivate players to be more aggressive and go after higher risk/value targets. |

Yeah, totals for each team and also each individual player's destroyed/lost stats. |

Yeah, totals for each team and also each individual player's destroyed/lost stats. Agreed. ISK efficiency should be tracked and should be one of the first thing on the leader board list. |
