I don't have a clue how much revenue and profit DUST 514 is acquiring since its been released. But now there is talk about the booster prices being a little out of whack.
Some players can afford and will gladly pay $100s for boosters. That is their right. I see it being no different than people who spend over $100 on Call of Duty or something.
But, this puts players with money at a strict advantage to normal/casual players. And, if they want to catch up to their Protostomping counterparts buying a booster is the best alternative. That's how the game was built in the first place. CCP needs to give people a reason to buy AURUM, and use boosters. They have a right to make money with their game too.
But, my idea is, why not drop the prices of Boosters. Like by 90%? Why not make it so everyone can buy them, even the really high end ones? I think more people would buy them, in fact I think that the majority of players would buy them. Hence they would generate money from more sales overall.
Its kind of like cars. Rolls Royce hardly sells any cars in a year, and only panders to 1% of the population. Yet, Toyota makes cars that 70% of the population can afford and they sell more cars overall and make more money overall. |

When everybody can buy them it will be almost impossible to play the game without using boosters. The prices are fine. Of course: As a customer I would always love to get that stuff cheaper. But I doubt it'll pay off. Now we have some people who don't use boosters and some who pay the price to get a little bit SP a little bit faster. It works quite well if you ask me.
What I would like though is the possibility to get Aurum Coupons. |

Because even if you make the omegas a penny each, there will still be those that can't get them, either because they have no money or no access to a credit card.
The only real way to make these boosters available to everyone would be to get the player market going. Let those with deep enough pockets shell out for them and sell to those that either can't afford the boosters on their own or refuse to spend money on a F2P game. Works quite well on Eve with the PLEX system. |

When I go to a ball game, an amusement park, or a movie theater why can't the concessions sell food at normal, reasonable prices? If they did everyone would buy the food and they'd still make a profit.
Why? Because they can jack the prices up and enough people still buy them. |

Say 50% of players buy boosters at the moment. If you lowered the price by 90%, you might get 90% buying them if you're very lucky, but CCP's revenues would drop catastrophically. E.g. if 50% of 10,000 people buy merc pack at $20 that's $100,000, but if 90% of 10,000 people buy at $2, that's only $18,000 - not enough to keep the servers open. |

But if the AUR gear was also lowered you would have people using up lots of AUR gear.
I disagree with you 100%.
This isn't pay to win. It's pay out the ass to gain a 720,000 SP per month.
$32 for 720,000 SP that is insane.
