Be able to collect your hive and move it away 4. be able to use enemies hives if no enemy in range (and less effective because different tech) 5. fix this bug where after throwing an hive you aren't able to throw the second unless you swap to other equip/weapon first 6. have always-on-HUD indicator of where squad hivea are 7. get +20% bonus if used by squad members (10) 8. have some sort of HUD message with "XXX nanohive depleted" instead of the "plush" sound 9. By targeting an hive you see the name (at least you know its a MLT and don't run 200m for it) 10. granade only-hives (especially for the granadeer dropsuit that I suggested in another post) 11. reduce supply depot resupply time, so that hive are sensibly more usable 12. harder hives, with 1.5 and the equipments WP the flux granade is the new OP WP weapon, nerfing logi even more 13. equipment hives. You can refill only special hives (drop uplinks, scanjam hives, booster hives, etc..)
It would be less lovely but could balance out the game a bit if: 14. two hives cannot overlap in same position, if you try to deploy the hive you get it back with a message This means hives all around, harder to take down with flux, logi must plan harder where to place hive
Then we also need: 15. scannerjam hives (see my other post), protects from scan (and cannot be scanned by a single scanner), has no visible area of efffect (cannot be seen easy as uplinks) and will hiding you when hacking (enemies don't get the hacking message and blinking) 16. Anti-orbital hive, it protects you from the orbital in a range of 3m->6m. Vital, especially for the new pilot dropsuit :) 17. time limited based hives, they last 30seconds but give special bonuses such as: - WP booster, who gets refilled get a 10% WP bonus (and you get 10% of his bonuses aswell) for 10 seconds - Resistance booster - shield rech rate booster
Adding the new hives types means that choosing how to fit do your logistics will determine the tactic of the battle, e.g. a WP booster logi will only be useful for limited amount of times in the match. Also it would create some logistic classes:
- Ammo specialist : will take care of ammo hives - Battle logistic : will set spawn points, repair hives, repair people - Direct team support : wp booster, anti-scanner, anti-orbital - Medic : syringe, repair tool, anti-orbital hive - Scout logi : anti scanner, STEALTH HACKER (also gives back a lot of versatility to the scout) - Pilot logi : DS pilot with the leader dropsuit for squad boosting and unit deploying
Yeah, logi classes! Also could be an incentive to add a certificate system to DUST aswell (maybe in the new RUBICON style?)
Here is a funny use case I came up to make an example: "K/D camper fits WP booster and scanner, runs out of ammo very fast and must find an hive from his team (maybe far away). Runs to the last battle position, where is safe to go (as campers do) and looks for an hive. uh oh, everybody took their hives and move them to the frontline! While trying to figure out how to refill and camper again, an enemy scout, hidden in an anti-scanner hive, shotguns at him from behind. The same scout that 1 minute after hacked the objective, without anybody even realize."
1. Yes 2. Yes, I think triage nanohives should glow of a green light instead of blue. 3. This would be problematic to realize. How do you separate the "half-empty" hive from the unused ones in your inventory? 4. No, it's unfair. 5. Of course! 6. Yes 7. There is no reason why you should get more WP this way. I'd rather have more WP from hives in general. 8. Absolutely, hell yeah! 9. Oh yes! 10. I don't have a personal opinion about this. 11. What do you mean? 12. mmmh... 13. Might be a little OP but I like the idea. 14. Not sure why 15. Like it. 16. Not sure if it's fair, but I like the idea. The radius should be very limited, however, 3m max, so that it's useful only when you're actually expecting an orbital strike and you can't move around. 17-. I'll use this point to express my general idea about multiple hive types: They bring a lot of confusion. All these hives should have a different color and it's going to be a little too much: "omg, what does this hive do? ammo? nades? equipment?" They would bring panic and confusion instead of being actually helpful.
In the end, I would limit the nanohive types as much as possible.
+1 for the good ideas. |
