Most games that offer players the choice of having light armor and heavy armor, tend to offer a stealth function as well. DUST should be no exception! Here is what I think a stealth mechanic for DUST could be like.
Heavies make loud footstep noises, lights make soft footstep noises.
Critical damage alert. When youGÇÖre almost dead your dropsuit produces a noise that alerts you that your almost dead. DonGÇÖt try to sneak when youGÇÖre low on health.
Breathing noises, when your stamina is low you start breathing heavy. Heavies breathe heavier than lights.
Proximity voice chat. If youGÇÖre within range youGÇÖll be able to hear what people are saying. Stay quiet if youGÇÖre sneaking.
If a sound is loud enough you can be detected easier on radars.
Crouching is sneaking.
Crouch speed is ½ of movement speed.
When sneaking youGÇÖre harder to see. Scouts are hardest to see, heavies are easy to see.
When sneaking you make less noise. ScoutGÇÖs noise is suppressed more than heavies.
When sneaking youGÇÖre harder to be detected on radar. ScoutGÇÖs are harder to detect than heavies.
When sneaking you get a x2 bonus to melee damage if hit from the back.

1: Makes sense.
2: Hell no.
3: You're in a sound proof suit. no.
4: I'd give this to Scouts only, being able to hack into comms of nearby enemies.
5: That's not how our scanners work, no.
6: sneaking is when you're not doing obvious movement, so do you mean when crouched? That's pointless.
7: Last time I checked, crouch speed was 40%, so I assume you want it buffed?
8: Obviously
9: Like I said, that's not how scanners work, so no.
10: It would be harder to hit someone when crouched, unless you jump at them. Plus, most of the time, people are moving, so that would be useless against all but someone using a installation or a sniper. Plus, even if you did, that's too much damage. |

Since we're keen on the Crouch, how 'bout ... Aim Assist doesn't activate, unless you're Crouched. Dispersion on all weapons is increased, unless you're Crouched.
Now about Scouts ... Sprinting ain't what it used to be, but it's still our best bet at reaching safety. Then there's flanking. That requires a measure of running about as well. But you'd prefer we Crouched? Seriously? And beep when near death? We're always near death!
