I think we need a game mode that allows corporations to enter controlled battles for training purposes. For new players or dynamic squads, this would allow better teaching of game mechanics and the cohesiveness of squad members.
Training Ground Mechanics: -No SP or ISK gain from fighting in the training grounds -Each training ground is it's own instance -No suits or vehicles are used up on the training grounds to encourage fit testing (justified by unopposed salvaging) -Invites can be sent to players outside the corporation to allow corp vs corp training -Instance creator sets parameters of the training (ie. mission timer(if not infinite), MCC HP or ticker system, etc) -Chat would be open to all sides of the training grounds to allow for coordination of specific scenarios -Players can switch sides to allow training diversity -Players can see all open training grounds for their corp and join from the battle finder -Instance creator chooses maps and sockets for training to allow a diverse and dynamic training experience
Potential Balancing Points: -"Training Clone Packs" must be purchased but are much cheaper than PC clone packs. (justified by salvaging the clone implants) -Players rent the land on which they train unless the map matches a district they own, in which case it would be free -MCC would be notional (lore point so that training doesn't destroy an actual MCC)
Bottom line is, joining public matches as a squad is helpful, but slaughtering blueberry's doesn't really prepare you for PC battles against formidable opponents. also, currently, there is no way for two squads to join the same battle (outside of timing and luck) on the same side and fight as congruent squads. |

Pretty much the dream of every corporation.
I would also like to see a mode that allows just Basic and Militia gear only. A great place for newer players to work on the fundamentals with a more even playing field. Could also be a decent place for Squads to go and work on some tactics and still get some challenge without the crutch of higher tier gear.
Adds something to the game, takes absolutely nothing away and would probably require very little in the way of developer resources to put together. |

This has been brought up countless times since closed beta. CCP likes to see this implemented, but it's just on the backlog of what's to come. This means that you probably won't have to start holding your breath until next year I bet. |

They're making a weapons lab that will basically do that, but with a firing range as well. |

Why do we need to balance training?
Otherwise, do it. |

Clone packs? Can't we just say this is the future and we're playing in a virtual battleground where you can't get hurt.
Well on second though, that would be playing a videogame where you're a merc playing a video game...

As it so happens, I just made this without noticing that a similar thread so already exists:
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=113021&find=unread
It's focused on the individual rather than training with your corp, but I think it could dovetail nicely with the suggestions made in this thread, which I totally want to see happen. See if you think its a good addition, anyway. |

they had a training environment for basic and militia gear. it was called the academy. then someone had the bright idea of reducing the WP needed to leave to practically one or two games. it should have been 1mil SP to leave the academy with the option to leave voluntarily.
this topic is about a Training Grounds game mode though, so lets stay on point. |

We should have this. At least in order to test control settings.
Life for move users is hard enough, even without forcing them to tune their controls in real battle. |
