To keep the place lively.
Let's face it. If we all stroke each other's egos, all agree with each other and all act tolerable, than Role Playing is kind of boring.
I have had a few fellow role players reprimand me for being the bad guy. Or for not being aristocratic in my approach. I like being the bad guy, I help motivate people to play along and challenge people to speak up. As for not always being super serious, that gets boring real fast. For that reason, I like to incorporate humor in many of my posts.
So please don't just think that I am l trying to be totally anal. That's not the case, I am simply trying to bring some variety to the Intergalactic Summit. Get people to flare up and write out their story and their positions.
So no hard feelings. |

So no hard feelings. Dude, be the bad guy, someone has to be. Just don't be a raving lunatic, those are boring, the best bad guys are the ones the make sense and make you question things :D My guy has to be a lunatic lol. He has a personality disorder. I'll tell you what, I have been trying to be less of a villain.
I just wanted to start off strong, in an attempt to jump start the community. I am indeed trying to be more moderate.

You don't play the bad guy, you play the good guy trying to be a bad guy and failing. Me trying to be good? The very thought!
lol
See that is where you have to stop and think deeper. To the Amarr I am a straight up villain. To the Caldari a nemesis. To fanatical Gallante and Minmatar a prophet. Some even pity me for being a first generation clone and for my mental disorders. Many moderate Minmatar and Gallante see me as misguided. Though, this is what I expect from playing such a radical player and such a far front.

I haven't checked out the forum, but if it's just a kick puppies for no reason bad guy with no long term agenda, you're just annoying and should stop (and figure a long term agenda) I love the bad guys in every game, however since I picked up Amarr in dust and EVE I just cant channel my inner bad guy. I know, it's hard, very hard. It makes it difficult to roleplay when you can't effect the Universe much. You are left to your own devices, trying not to contradict the canon story line, at least not without a very well thought out explanation.
I have a very loose and fluid agenda, though at this point with the amount we can affect the Universe, I will with hold it and opt for small back story plots and opinionated pseudo-analytical posts. Not the best, though, not much else we can do at this point.

Quote: I'm a dude, playing a dude, disguised as another dude!
I guess to "AN AMARR" you look like the picture of debauchery and scumminess. But you come off as a self righteous Liberty Junkie.... the whole " I AM FREEDOM" is a boring character archetype that I see all to often on the forums.
Where is the schizophrenic Gallentean Underworld Enforcer with a noble side that is often hindered by acts of blind rage and otherwise generally scummy badassery?
The gritty characters are not present in RP.
I may get out old Harkon, a hardline Patriot Caldari with a biased hatred against Achurans for making Caldari bloodlines impure, and a nasty general personality and appearance.
I tend to keep Kador on a leash, he is a more refined character, though the more I write his story the more psychological pseudo religious warping he goes though. I even wrote in his agoraphobia.
Vyzion Eyri wrote:To be 'bad' is relative to what is 'good'. And in New Eden, where scams bely friendly messages, where HTFU shortly follows tears, and where mercenaries are pounded to dust over and over in an immortal cycle of everlasting death whilst capsuleers experience death in a grander, interstellar scale in the skies above, what defines good? I just said "bad" because I did not want to explain the definition of an Anti-hero. I.E. A guy that does bad things on the basis of doing it for the greater good.
This isn't my full character story just a small part (I'll post the rest later):
My guy is a third party agent for the intelligence service of the Gallante Federation. As such he has been involved in several false flag operations, I.E. killing civilians and blaming it on other people. One example of this: My guy has killed Gallante citizens in the Caldari state, which is then publicly blamed on Caldari extremists. As far as he is concerned, it's for the greater good.
I would be a villain to the greater part of people, though, good to the few fanatics.
Take note that my guy's story us a lot bigger, this is just a small tree in a larger forest. |
