the FG is the caldari version of an HMG.
All Caldari weaponry has longer range than the other races. the Sniper rifle, rail rifle, FG are all caldari weapons. the caldari surprisingly also make some minmintar weapons (the isshukune assault SMG is better in everyway to the minmintar version).
Caldari also have all the AV in the game right now. FG, swarms and AV nades are all caldari.

A kaakliota with 2 complex damage mods can drop a heavy in 2-3 shots. 1 shot with a headshot. The sniper has much greater range and accuracy than a forgun. just make sure you get that headshot. |

Good thing that there are multiple counters to a Forge Gunner. Like a competent sniper... Or a sneaky (and competent) scout with any weapon... Or the average assault player with an AR who is able to move... Or an orbital... or basically anybody who utilizes tactics. Now, a forge sniper atop a tower only accessible via DS... Well, that is a problem that has to do more with map design than Forge Guns. But even they have counters. Then again, what would I know. I only get countered *EVERY SINGLE battle I enter with my trusty forge gun, regardless if I am atop a tower, or down on the ground. *caps for emphasis only

See my other post cause people that die more then twice to a forge gun just arn't paying attention. Grab a milita heavy suite with a milita forge gun and countersnipe him. Its funny you should mention that. Whats the counter to a sniper across the map? Whats the counter to a sniper on top a roof? So, snipers are OP. Snipers can one shot suits from across the map and nobody knows where the blast is coming from.

you are precisely right. the FG likewise has this niche. All caldari tech is designed for longer ranges, with a lower fire rate than comparable weapons. the Forgun is a HEAVY weapon, meant for longer ranges. A forge gunner should never be in close range trying to use that thing.
I could understand QQ if FG (except AFG) were better than ARs in close range (which they are not). but, after you dodge the first shot the forgegunner is dead. FG is meant to be used at long range.
AFG is the exception because it is the caldari version of the HMG, meant to engage troops.

You are correct. Its AV and anti infantry. All heavy weapons are supposed to be good on vehicles (in chromosome the HMG could shred LAVs). but the HMG has been repeatedly nerfed so hard it barely kills infantry.
but, not only are all heavy weapons designed to be good on vehicles and infantry, BUT Caldari specialize in AV and rail tech (which is good at taking out vehicles). their the enemy the galente use vehicles so have a heavy AV weapon was of primary importance.
Right now the only real counter to an AR is a better AR. honestly....lolol |

The FG is the Heavy Long Range weapon.
Its working as Intended. You still Kill at Long range.
It this whole issue is about Tower Camping, then how come we don't care when Sniper rifles do it?
Or When Tanks Snipe?
Its just another sniper, which it is supposed to be.
Leave it alone until we have a heavy weapon for Ranged engagements with infantry. Which we don't have right now.

They make no sense anyway, who would build a 100 storey tower in the middle of a load of fields? Or at least make the roofs without ladders inaccessible via dropship, so you just slide off them. This would restrict FGers to the ground and ladder-accessible roofs. FGs are not OP in those roles. |
