I have heard all manner of suggestions for increasing scout utility and survivability, ranging from the easily implemented (more CPU/PG, extra slots, etc.) to the less readily obtainable (jet packs). I believe all have their merits and their possible drawbacks.
I would like to suggest a scout utility that would be very easily introduced: Teleportation.
How is that easy? You may ask. Well, if scouts had the ability to redeploy from any blue controlled CRU or Uplink we could traverse the battlefield with ease. We would pull up our wristwatch as if hacking and it would take us back to the deployment screen where we could redeploy without losing a suit. We could make it have a meter, much like an instillation, to keep it from being instantaneous or usable in battle. All of these screens and animations are already in the game.

I already get shot in the back trying to hack points enough as it is.
Now you want me to hack through a minefield of remote explosives, constantly re-spawning enemies, AND teleporting ninjas?

Okay, how about a variable scope for snipers -- zoom in and zoom out while scoped (with the default setting as it is now for anyone who doesn't care to use it).
Never going to happen in a world of sniper hate... but fun to imagine.
EDIT: LOL, forgot to comment... the idea is cool but I'm thinking it's as likely as sniper zoom adjustment. |

As it is a combination of already implemented functions rather than something requiring entirely new mechanics and graphic elements, it should be easier to implement than something like a jet pack.
I am utilizing common sense, rather than an intimate knowledge of programming.

I think it's pretty cool actually, gotta make sure it's not too op tho, like a squad of scouts vanishing an re appearing, maybe you would need a certain scout only uplink that you can put down an travel back to, but only u can use your spawn point |

An octopus cloak would work better imo. It would help us sneak around, rather than saying, "**** it, teleport". However, I do like the idea of teleporting for the Black Ops HAV's. |

A somewhat similar suggestion was made sometime back; its author and title I don't recall. The concept was quite memorable ... drop two beacons anywhere on the map and fast-travel between them. Kinda like Uplinks, but more like an application of Quantum Entanglement theory.
I like your idea, but I suspect there's abuse potential at hand.
Think Dropship vs Proto Swarms... You can fire at 'em all day long, but a smart one will always get away. The cycle is broken if and only if a friendly fatty whips out his Forge Gun.
I fear a similar cycle of indestructibility would exist in the case of the "Teleporting" Scout, except there would be no Forge Gun counter. OP, I'm afraid. But a neat concept, nonetheless.

No, you guys are scouts. If you do that then scouts become OP. Scouts are the most vulnerable but also the most dangerous because of their speed and agility. That's all I need is a scout teleporting to my location, buckshot me and then teleport back.
Scouts would effectively become dust trollers. |

I don't think that this would take the place of a much needed PG/CPU boost and extra equipment slot, (I'd also like to see the Adv Gal scout with a 1/3 slot layout) but I feel it would be a useful addition.

Actually, scouts are barely faster than assaults, slap a kincat on a medium frame and you're on par with a scout for speed. However, a scout's eHP potential is wildly disparate compared to an assault suit, my advanced scout fitting barely ekes past 350eHP.
If you dislike the teleport idea, that's cool, we all have our opinions. However, as an exclusive scout suit runner, I have to say that our speed and agility is barely better than that of a medium frame and not worth the huge eHP sacrifice and PG/CPU cut that the suits are subject to. |

Then that means we need to adjust the speed values for scouts so that isn't a issue. |

I think the idea would be better if it worked like AC4 where you aim in a direction and it put you a certain number of meters in that direction. |

Might be interesting if you had to be standing over one uplink to move to another one. And it uses up one charge on each uplink.
Perhaps takes ten seconds build up for it to occur (sorry, you can't just drop in on a hack any faster than normal, in other words!) |

considering scouts are useless now: I would implement the Teleportation thingieh as a EQUIPMENT. When activated the scout will have a range where he can teleport.say STD: 45mts ADV:65mts PRO:95 MTS The Equipment has a limit of 1-2-3 uses and It takes a good 180 secs of cooldown. Around 4 secs to activate AFTER the scout chose their location. (so that with some good hiding and 5 seconds spare time the scout can bail many situations....) The game would put him in the HIGHEST deployable aarea EXACTLY were the scout chose.(you dont need spawn uplinks nor CRU.Complete freedom of choice)
-Scouts fixed -Scout Snipers would now be better than other snipers for the ability to get into high places instantly. -also works as counter:Roof sniping/FG sniping fixed -While being an equipment DENIES the ability of the scout to get on high places and deploy uplinks
2 in one. Again dreaming is cool and all, i know it wont happend, but damn it would be nice... |
