Quote:* The Neocom is now open by default in all cases where the Mercenary Quarters would previously be the default view. It can still be closed to move around the Mercenary Quarters.
Just woke up, opened the patch notes and read this, haven't read any of the other patch notes and I'm disappointed immediately.
No.
Just no.
Take it away.
Do away with it entirely, take it out of 1.5. No-one likes this. It's not hard to just hit L1, we don't need this feature.
Quote:* The third person camera switches to view the active character from the front when the Neocom is open.
EDIT: Don't really like this feature either, but I can live with it. Think a better decision would have been to just make it where you can move the camera in front of the camera when the character is not moving. |

Now that they want to do the opposite in DUST there is already some DUST bunnies getting upset.
Just hit O and start walking. Who really cares? The rest of the info was pure gold. It wasn't vehicle stuff like some of us thought, but it was good stuff we really needed.
Just hit L1 and open your neocome. Who really cares?
Getting upset because it's the exact reason the Eve players revolted (of which I am one). Someone took the time to make the "feature", however much time it was, which took away from something else. I don't remember large scores of players complaining that the neocom wasn't open - and the current system worked out - so why change it?
Personally, I don't care for the clutter all over my screen and when I'm not looking at something it's nice to have a clean cut from the start. |

Personally, I don't care for the clutter all over my screen and when I'm not looking at something it's nice to have a clean cut from the start. Once again players do not understand how coding works. Working on something does not take away from something else, features are worked on in teams. Each team is dedicated to work on that particular feature and figure out ways to make it implement with current systems. If you have too many people working on one feature or a team that is much too large the feature suffers more than not having enough people. Management decides what features go in and what features get cut. But once teams are decided on, one feature does not detract from another.
It's not even coding dude. Each team is dedicated to work on a feature, yes, but as the guy above me said - they could have worked on something else correlating to their team. I never said anything about coding - I said time. You're jumping to conclusions.

Just press O, "problem" solved, jeez.. I guess people finally realized that CCP doesn't care about the major things we complain about and hae decided to start complaining about **** that's not core mechanics for once. Could not sound any more like a generic hater response. Taking something completely unrelated, and spinning it into a "CCP sucks, wah". So CCP doesn't care about the community's conplaints, alright. We complained about dropships not having a real way to make WP besides assists and now they're giving WP for troop transports
We complained about lack of WP for counterhacking and now they're adding WP for it
We complained about swarm rendering issues with vehicles and now they're looking into fixing it ( https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1339653#post1339653 )
We complained about lag and now they optimized for better network performance in 1.5
We complained about melee glitch and now its fixed in 1.5
I could go on, but I think you get the point. Basically the whole "poor us, CCP doesn't listen to us" crap is total BS, in fact they don't even have to listen to us, but they do. Just because you don't get everything you want when you want it doesn't mean the devs aren't trying.
I'm not saying the entire patch sucks, I'm just saying that this one thing is pretty useless and you can say that it's not hard to hit 'O' to back out of it but it doesn't make it any less important to note that SOMEONE went out of their way to change this up when it was completely unnecessary. There is a lot more **** we need fixed right, especially in the UI department. |

There is a lot more **** we need fixed right, especially in the UI department. You're changing the subject, your original post was about wanting it removed (Kill this before it reaches 1.5), and not about CCP having the wrong priorities; removing it wouldn't magically cause more important features to materialize into the patch. Furthermore, there is ALWAYS a feature that everyone thinks isn't a priority that always makes it into patches, but we'd be without a lot of cool "unnecessary" features if only the important things made it in the game; if importance always took priority, then we wouldn't even have a merc quarters or war barge, just some text menus and lobbies. The core mechanics isn't in some terrible dire state that everything else must be sacrificed so that it can be fixed. Its no perfect, but it works. I actually like this new feature, first thing I (and most people) do is open the Neocom anyway. I also like that my character from the front will be the first thing I see since the Neocom open makes the camera face the front of the character. I also really really ******* love the variety of skyboxes we have, which a lot of people have complained about because of that "priorities" argument.
I'm not changing the subject at all, KAGEHOSHI - you're strawmanning.
They're one in the same, the entire reason I think it's a pissy feature is because it took away from man hours that could work on something else. I also hate it because it's a really stupid change and saying it's not hard to just hit 'O' is the same as saying it's not hard to hit 'L1' - it's a personal preference that, like many other 'features' introduced into Eve Online and Dust 514, is being forced on the people who don't like it.
Why not make it an optional feature if we're already working on changing the mechanics?
Skyboxes are a graphical element that don't impact how the game -plays-. You can say the skybox looks like **** but it's not an unnecessary annoyance you have to deal with at the end of -every match-.

We're not getting those man hours back, so your suggestion to kill this feature doesn't solve what you claim to be your problem. Now about the preference, I can see how it can be a tiny miniscule inconvenience to press O if you're not one of those people who automatically open the Neocom, but its not nearly a big enough change to warrant such a strong response. Also, do you really no just automatically open the Neocom automatically anyway most of the time? What exactly do you do n the Neocom at first most of the time?
Exactly, it can't be removed.
But, it could have been prevented had they asked for our feedback first. Maybe we could have said, "Yo, optional feature much? Why force this on players that don't like it?"
I don't automatically open the neocom. I actually find some great enjoyment in walking over to the console and activating it that way. Just a personal preference. First thing I usually do is hit up the fitting window to restock anyway and I'm -right next- to the panel for that at the end of a match, it's just faster than using the neocom and sifting through menus, even if it's just a -little- faster. |
