You're an insult to the world we live in. CCP butchers my language with almost every devblog they release (I'm English by the way) that one in particular has at least 4 errors in it, but you don't see people complaining about that.
If you could have done it better why didn't you step up and make the translations for your fellow country'person' gamers, why didn't you get in contact with D Legend and offer your services to proof read and assist with his work, why did you just come complaining on the forums ? ohh that's right, you're just a troll !
Step up ... or shut up !
and good job to D Legend for stepping up and providing a service that CCP can't provide themselves at the moment. |

Answering directly to Needless Sacermendor, what you don't understand is that the issues here aren't some handful of grammar errors or typos in a dev blog. If i were to proof read and assist D Legendary in his translations, i would scrap the whole thing and start over.
Do you understand how bad the issues are? They're structural and caused by a poor grasp of the language, not due to basic errors.
I'm not interested in how bad the issues are, I'm bothered by someone who feels the need to take up 4 posts complaining about someone who's stepped up of his own accord to provide a translation to the best of his ability in his own unpaid time for people he doesn't even know so they might stay interested in DUST or even be aware that things are changing in the future so they can come back later rather than leaving for good.
I'm bothered by someone who, in a thread that already talks about forum rules being broken by people using foreign languages in an english language section of the forum, goes on to talk in portuguese inciting people to petition for the removal of the translations and removal of the devblog praising someone for 'Stepping Up' AND make complaints against CCP Eterne who is guilty of nothing but praising somebody who's taken it upon themselves to provide a service in the same way people have made fitting tools and PC trackers and big corp CEOs n all the other things that have had community spotlights.
If he ... or you ... think you could do it better ... Step Up !
I have a fairly poor grasp of Spanish, but it doesn't stop me trying to explain things to people who don't understand English when nobody else steps up to do it in perfect spanish ... n you know what ? people never complain !

As you said correctly, when someone does a good fitting tool, or does a good PC tracker, that person should be praised, BUT this is a completely diferent thing.
CCP should have waited on this, thats why im pissed at CCP, they should have:
"this guy is stepping up to do a translation to portuguese--->gets that translation---> sents it to a professional translator to proof read---> translator sends their feedback and delivers the text in a perfect portuguese"
And lastly, the translator should be a native speaker of the language, and not rely on google translate and other online tools.
Get It? Dont get it? Dont comment on something you have no clue about.
I don't assume the translations are well done ... I have no idea, don't really care and I even said so in my other post.
I didn't correct anything about your post and never said it had 4 errors ... I said the devblog butchered the English language and had 4 errors.
Are you going to pay for his work to be proof read ? are you or your wife going to proof read it for him ? CCP have said in the devblog they're not in a position to provide a proper portuguese or other language translations at the moment since they don't have inhouse speakers and can't justify spending money yet on translations they can't do inhouse.
CCP didn't get a professional proof reader for their English devblogs etc. never mind the other languages ! ... bear in mind English isn't the native language in Iceland.
I'm not a foreigner and don't call me one ... I'm English and I live in England !
There's nothing different about someone stepping up and putting their own time into providing a service to the community ... whether it's a fitting tool or a translation into another language ... however bad it may be ... I don't feel the need to campaign to get their devblogs proof read by an English professor because they're not written in 'The Queens English' ... 99% of people educated in England couldn't speak English properly if they tried, I'm not perfect myself, but the English version of the devblogs is understandable as is this portuguese translation by other people accounts ... https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1342858#post1342858

He is from Portugal commenting on Brazilian Portuguese. He is just discriminating. Its almost like someone from America criticizing English from Guyana, Jamaica, or England. English is English. On a side note ... I do wish people were a little more careful about editing quotes.
It's not your fault noob caveman, D legendary hero missed deleting the bracketed 'quote=Needless Sacermendor' from the first line. As you can see from this post, it now quotes properly just by removing that bracket.
If the both of you wouldn't mind editing your posts to reflect that, currently it implies that I said "ohh and 1 more thing, if you aren't portuguese" etc. which is quite the opposite of what I've been saying.
