Right now I run mostly Solo Logi and I tend to go where ever the most heated battle is and help out everybody. I carry an AR just because I have a slot and it is the least impact on my CPU/PG letting me max out my equipment. I do my part in the battle and really don't care if i Win or Loose because I do everything I can.
Now is there a beneficial reason for me to join a squad. Other than Pub Stomping, cuz like I said earlier I don't care about wins or losses. (after all it's just a game)
I'm not trolling here, I really want to know if I am missing out on something special, or even mediocre. I did joing a squad one time several months ago and did not the attraction. I don't know if I got in a bad squad or I didn't know what I was doing or what, but I haven't had the desire to do it again. |

I solo most of the time, not because squads are worthless but because they take time to organize and replace people as they drop out.
if I'm bored and want people to talk to I squad up, otherwise i just solo to grind.
I just have more fun in a squad, if the squad is good, I tend to get annoyed if the squad is bad and can't keep up. |

I will give you the first two out of my head:
1st. you may share Active Scanner results with your squad and receive them too if they have one, which will help you work better.
2nd. Orbital strikes. If anything else your WPs will be used to help your team get another OB and that may help a lot depending on how close the game is.
These are just two mechanical advantages, but being able to work in a good squad with teamwork and coordenation is really a different experience than playing by yourself. Just try it and see if you can understand what I mean. |

Results of active scanners are shared within the squad only, it helps you get orbitals (you can create a one-person squad, and hypothetically get 2500 WP, but it's unusual) which help your entire team, and if the squad commander uses squad orders, you can get a little bonus to WP by being near whoever has the defend order on them.
I usually solo in playstyle, too, but always join a squad if possible for these reasons. |

well I like being part of a squad cause it makes the game a lot more fun when u can joke around with friends u made on the game
plus knowing people have ur back makes squads almost a necessity in this game |

The only reason I do it is so I have people to joke around with while I play the game. Or can coordinate revenge on a particular player that's annoying.
Playing games a lone has it's charms. But I always find I'm more likely to stick with a game, and enjoy it more, when I have like minded people to play with.
Orbies can be fun too. |

It's like playing solo, except you have someone breathing heavily into their mic while two kids in the back are crying.
Personally, I only fly solo because apparently it's a sin to use Push To Talk. |

From the perspective of someone that likes to run as a lone wolf:
You only tried one random squad and had a bad experience. Most random squads are pointless.
Joining a good squad with people you know has benefits:
1. You can potentially earn 20% more war points per match which increases your pay and earned skill points.
2. The social aspect can be enjoyable. If it's not then find a new group.
3. Someone has your back. They can pick you up or help you fend off a group that is stronger than you. You win more and lose less money.
4. Orbital strikes.
5. Cooperative vehicle game play becomes interesting and useful.
6. Shared squad TACNET. Intel is important.
Eventually you can move into the corporate level metagame and controlling planetary districts. |

It could sometimes be fun but, it usually with people you know or when you want to try a squad with the same under used weapon(plasma cannon for me). Being a logi might help you get more WPs too if you're in one. |

Well if you don't care about winning, then no there is no reason to join a squad. Yes I know it's just a game, but the point of games is to win. Yeah there's a point where some people take it too far, but if you're not playing to win then . . .
Also being social is fun, there's always that.
Kalisi Marada wrote:I carry an AR just because I have a slot and it is the least impact on my CPU/PG letting me max out my equipment If that were true, then you'd be running a sidearm in the light weapon slot to save even more CPU/PG.

Squad orders give a 20% bonus for any actions that you perform in their area.
It's only depressing if you are in a bad squad.

Oh and to add to that the little problem of being dragged into a region which isn't local and the lag is horrendous, there's lots of reasons why going solo makes for a better gaming experience playing dust. If you feel this strongly against joining squads, at least you can join a squad once you get in battle. Deactivate the voice on the squad channel and abandon squad afterwards. No waiting around forever in your merc quarters, no annoying voices, and no lag from other regions since you're always joining matches by yourself and only joining a squad once you're in.
There's no reason to not join a squad once you're in a battle, because there are absolutely 0 benefits of not being in a squad at that point. |

I couldn't imagine playing a team based game by myself.
the only reason I stick around this game are because of the friends ive made and the fun we have playing as a team.
that and im a competitive gamer. running solo typically means taking a Loss.
sure I lose, but not often, and I expect to win EVERY time.
I forsake kdr, suit cost...everything (aside from cheating/gltiching etc.) to get a W
guess its just reasons you play
make a friend, have a hug, meet people.

The shared scan results is a massive boost too, especially if you're not running a scanner but one of your squad mates is. You'll have no idea how helpful this is until you squad with a scanner. |

You're basically isolating yourself from the social aspects of the game when you don't squad up. I've met the majority of my friends on here just from randomly joining squads and have a wide assortment of connections. This game can be a miserably lonely experience if you run solo 24/7. |

I enjoy a mixture of lone wolf and squading depending on mood and what I want to do in game e.g. Learnining about sniping or just running ambush to generate Isk.
I will say it can be an enjoyable experience if you find a decent group of individuals or a corp and the feel of the game changes dramatically.
Think of it as another game mode and worth trying out. |

If you have a mic and half a personality, it can be a fun social experience.
However, if you are loud, immature, lame, unintelligent, belligerent (when sober) and overall unpleasant - then I recommend you spare the rest of us and continue playing by yourself. Otherwise, squads are overall much more enjoyable for the most part. |

I play both ways and can unequivocally state that a good squad makes the game both more fun and profitable.
While most random squads don't have much to offer, a corp squad of your buddies have your back and give you more opportunity for points. That's not just the extra squad leader points, but being on coms to ask for reps from you so you don't have to go looking for work.
They will be looking out for you so you won't lose so many suits.
Then there is the social aspect. It's a whole lot more fun to help people who can and do express their appreciation. One of my corp mates asks for hives and I toss one down to hear, "COOKIES! Nom! Nom! Nom!" I run my ADV scanner and hear "Thanks for lighting them up!", or the squad earns an OB and I get a scan request to determine the best spot to drop it. When 1.5 drops that's also going to become much more profitable, but that's secondary to the enjoyment of being useful.
