The infamous "assault-logis", players using proto logi suits mainly because of superior tank possibilities are all over, they hardly use any equipment more than a couple of compact nanohives for themselves...
So I'm currently running a Logi-assault, which in practice means that I carry a fancy pants scanner instead of the usual nanohive, on an assault suit and with a smg. This is possible mainly because I use single shot weapons like the Scrambler rifle or the TAC ar, both of which normally have enough ammo to last me through a game, if I don't then there normally is a chance or two to sneak some ammo from a hive somewhere.
Am I the only one who does this? I think not. Do you have other fittings with assault suits and an equipment other than a hive? Does anyone use a repair tool?

That horse has been dead for a long time ... are you a zoonecrophiliac or something ?
Logi suits doesn't alway mean field medic, it can also mean combat engineer (yeah combat is a hint for you) there's one in my corp, he runs a proto logi suit with an injector (just in case the field medic dies or another squad member nearby), active scanner (that's a combat engineer tool as much as a scout tool), dual remote exp (another combat engineer tool) and a Duvolle (yes a Duvolle because he is a COMBAT engineer).
As for myself, I'm a field medic, so I use a logi suit with injector, rep, nanohive and uplink, both fittings are fine they just call for different playstyles.

Well, this is not about bashing the dudes using a logi suit for assault purposes, I have no beef with that and as a player which have both the proto variant of the CAL med suits I find that the assault suit is way more effective at doing the slayer job than the logi suit is.
What I wondreed about is if there are more dudes out there that uses an assault suit and don't fit a nanohive on it. What equpment do you fit on it and what gun? How do you manage playing without a naohive?

Yeah I remember that thread, very good indeed, I absolutely agree.
I personally think that most of the grief coming towards the Logi suit and especially the Caldari logi suit is more a matter of a shift in talent. Before launch, more or less all the slayers used assault suits, they had proto suits with 2 equipment slots. After they removed the second equipment slot many of the ground pounder killers with some skill, like myself, switched from running assault to running a logi suit.
This led to a shift in talent between the classes and you now had to face a logi suit with a player behind it that focuses on killing first and supporting as a second.
It reminds me a lot about the whole Creodron breach assault nerf that happened during closed beta. Was it the gun? I don't think so. It was more a result of player skill, since more or less all the guys with good gungame used it, there was nothing OP about the gun itself...

I do not run scanners on any of my logistic suits. Hives, repair, and either a nanite or spawn. |

The fact that I can put a scanner + nanohives is the only reason I run my cal logi when solo instead of cal assault TBQH.
^---- THIS is why combat logi (Amarr Logi preferably...) is arguably the best option right now *FOR SOLO PLAY* ... an assault with a scanning logi in squad will still outperform though.
To OP, no you are not the only one who does that; regularly run min assault with tac ar + smg with a scanner. It works; does not work with a standard AR unless you are camping a supply depot or really trust your logi bro (no reason HE shouldn't be scanning instead though...) |

I think it has more to do with people moving on to different classes. Assaults are basically the introductory class- the first thing anyone that plays this game will see until they learn that there's other roles. Eventually we get bored and want to try new things. A lot of good assaults moved on to scouts, heavies, and most of all logistics just for a little more to spice things up and these are damn good players, it's not just about the numbers and stats 100% of the time because it's still a FPS. You mean your a medic, there is no 'real' logi, so long as a logi has equipment they are being a logi.
I carry scanner, injector and k2 hives but I have a medic fit. I'm an amarr logi which is the combat logi also stated in the suits description. I run marginally quicker than a heavy if I want to survive long and am far too slow for offensive play unless its cqc. Its great for defensive play though. |

I currently run my three equipment slots with a nanite injector, drop uplink and nanohive. I like to use these strategically for my team by only placing the drop uplinks and nanohives in places that serve as a good place to hold ground against another team or for capturing an objective.
I also am very careful to only revive people when I am fairly confident they arent going to take a killshot as soon as they stand back up. One of my pet peeves is getting revived by someone in the middle of a firefight, surrounded by the enemy, and the second I hear that nanite injector activating, I know Im a second away from losing another clone... so I try very hard not to **** off my team in the same way. |

With the faster movement speed and more high slots, they can put shield extenders to compensate for the low slots being something other than Armor Plates, or they can stack damage mods to be a little bit more effective. I personally am a support logi. |

Many times i've felt that i was safer to run alongside a random logi because he/she/it can support me with ammo, rep, and injector when in need.. Then when sh!t has gone down, I've ran out of ammo and need some repairing, mofo threw down remote explosives... damn fake a$$ logi. |
