They could make it a bit more subtle... perhaps provide the option to have a (selectable) alert sound and a (selectable) fail sound for scanners.
By selectable I mean two or three sounds that we can choose from. |

I honestly never notice it. Just like the "Enemy is hacking...".
I don't think it should be removed, but I don't think it should be text. Instead you see a light around the edges of your vision as if your visual signal picks up interference from being scan. It should be sublte, but better than text.

I have the scanner. You are the scanned. I like watching people start spinning around when they get scanned. If you don't know you are being hunted you have less chance to react. My favorite thing is hunting hill hugging snipers. I scan them and they still sit there, unmoving, uncaring, soon to die. If you could turn off the notification and did that just means less tactical awareness for you.
Since this is your thread why don't you go to Feedback/Requests and request the off switch. Makes you feel good when they use one of your ideas.

******?
Finding the enemy is rarely the problem. Picking my fights and setting up the situation to my advantage is the plan.
If I scan the other side of the building and see a pack of proto pub-stompers that can't survive without running in a full pack of six then I go somewhere else. If I see someone on their own or with just a friend or two I position myself for the best tactical advantage. I run lightly tanked and heavily dampened -- on my own. If I have the advantage of knowing when someone will stick their head past a wall then I can take down someone in a super tanked suit before they can react.

I swear people think everyone using the scanner is a super brick tanked logi or assault suit with like an AR or something.
I use proto scanner on my scout suit. I would be lost without it. The minmatar light / scout suits are pathetically weak , even the gallente scout seems 'tough' compared.
I cannot battle head on in a big fire fight, ever since 1.4 scouts have to play smart and tactical. So yes please do turn off your notification, hell run in a straight line and never look behind you! Thanks. |

quick advice... YOUR ALWAYS BEING FOLLOWED IN DUST 514!!!!!!!
There is a HUGE difference between knowing someone is following/hunting you, and knowing someone is following/hunting you AND that they know PRECISELY where you are at EVERY second. FFS! Are the implications of that difference that freakin' subtle?! If you're scanned, you can't effectively flank, or play with REs. There's no possibility of sneaky ninja moves or managing to lose the enemy in an installation. If you come head to head with someone who scanned you, they're going to get the first shot every time. If you're standing just around a corner and you get scanned, you're about to eat a cooked core locus grenade! Scanning is amazing, and being scanned sucks, and I can't understand why you don't want to know about it.
Of course I know where the enemy is generally, but if I want to be able to cook grenades with perfect accuracy, and know exactly where to throw it for a triple kill before I even poke my head out around the corner, or line up my SCR headshots before strafing out, or know that there's some kid with AV nades and a nanohive lurking on that rooftop, I'm going to need a scanner. It's a tool, and an extremely useful one at that.
If you really want to get rid of your notification, that's fine by me. You're just gimping yourself. Knowing when you're scanned and when you're not is important information. |

I think that if the scan precision of the scanner is 20% less than the scan profile of the suit, the 'you have been scanned' message shouldn't appear.
For example, using the basic active scanner with a precision of 46db against a medium dropsuit with a profile of 50, the message would appear. But using the advanced with a precision of 36 wouldn't show the message.
Just to make the ADV and Protos better scan precision worth it besides being able to scan the occasional scout. |

Melchiah ARANeAE wrote:I think that if the scan precision of the scanner is 20% less than the scan profile of the suit, the 'you have been scanned' message shouldn't appear.
Like I previously stated, I simply want an on/off switch) They can scan me all they want, I just don't want to see it flashing constantly) I'm not gonna waste one of my 5 slots for a profile dampener either, I want them to come to me) |

quick advice...
I'm #1 90% every match) I don't want/need it) |

its not important to me... it would be important if this was a stealth game and it isn't one so I don't care about it. |

Don't bother, there is no point convincing them why they should want it. Just stand back and laugh, CCP aren't gonna bother, they have more than enough on there plate!

Like I ALREADY said, I run front line! The ENTIRE match for me is "YOU'VE BEEN SCANNED". Its not like you cowards hiding somewhere never being scanned! I already know what time it is when I step onto the field! |

Person who scanned you is over there. Follow the little red light.
Would be nice in EWAR scenario.
Alternatively you could just an active scanner yourself, lol |

I get salty when I get scanned. I start chanting prepare to die. It actually works like a reverse scanner. Least I know a raging pack of homos are coming for me.
I lock and load. I wish all people with scanners get a message "You've been killed." |

All of you who say the message is useless are truly ignorant.
All the text in the world isn't going to convince you the scan message is a good idea.

Heh heh heh, fantastic assumption, so everyone saying you shouldn't turn it off, is a camping little so and so? Brilliant!
Like I said Im not convince you why its needed, its rather hard to explain it to someone who classifies them self as cannon fodder! Like I said CCP have more important things to do , even in the HUD section, you'll have to deal with it!

I like the idea of notification options, and would rather a flashing red hued screen rather than a little red sentence that is easy to miss. |

Well if people want to turn it off, let them turn it off! I have no problems with that.
If a little text really makes them that angry then hell, give them an option to turn the damn thing off. I think its a foolish mistake however. For me as a scout it makes a lot of difference if I get scanned or not (Most the time I have prevented the scan) so IF I see I have been scanned I know someone else is using a good scanner. For me that is highly useful information.
So yes make it optional, lets not turn this into an argument. |

Thanks for your support! Like i've already said, mine flashes the ENTIRE match. I stay on the objective. It just pisses me off that I have to check it every few seconds to see which objective/turret/cru is being hacked and it's that freaking "your have been scanned". |
