Dust 514 at that time will be dead for approximately 9 years and 10 months.
CCP has no official date for the PS4, which would be the solution to a lot of their hardware restricted problems; Instead, they will stick with the PS3 for too long with a poorly optimized game while everyone else takes the market for PS4, leaving Dust 514 very little growth room in that generation.
The best decision they can utilize at this point is to keep Dust 514 on the PS3 until they pull the plug to the servers, because there is no way in hell they can win on the PS4 unless they put their footstep on it when PS4 is released, thus, taking advantage of the early PS4's lack of games.
Once PS4 hits the 6 month mark, CCP is screwed (especially when Destiny, being released on both PS3 and PS4 comes out to play and compete with the already non-existent PVE CCP has generously not given us). |

The PS4 could be a HUUUUUUUUGE chance for Dust 514. The Lunchtitels are not the most awesome and having this game for free to download would probably lead to a lot new players here. |

Wouldent that be nice, a PS4 bundled with a pre downloaded copy of dust 514. hell toss in a sweet graphic edition or something and i think that would be fairly nice for both ps4 (they have a game right out off the hop that comes with it) and Dust as there will be tons of players who are hyped to get it. (and they can work on a nice new system with better specs)

It's under discussion on how to implement it at the moment, it's been talked about for a long time, but there are issues with cross console compatibility and the obvious issues that brings. all in all it would probably be a straight switch, from one to another. not everyone will have a ps4 on launch day, so they need to decide when the time is right to move over. |

Although not a release title, PS4 development is probably (most likely) underway. Maybe some version of their hyped Carbon engine will be optimized, with this PS3 version being a beta for how that stats and functionality will work.
In ten years the talk will be about the PS6 or 7 release (...and on Microsoft's newest suXbox?) and how the PS5 version is dead.
(Remember when CoD finally left the WWI, WWII theme? Those still had full lobbies until MW2 was well into rotation.)

the next gen concoles are expected to last at LEAST 10 years and the PS4 is expected to last longer than the xbox one, after that we will go to modular consoles like the steambox |

Sure, but when something the size of a nickel that transmits directly to my visual and auditory implants with about 100 times the processing power comes along for a price of $10 I'm upgrading no matter what they estimate the longevity to be. |

I really had high hopes and expectations with CCP after a successful (aside from matchmaking) version 1.4; the fact that CCP pushed all of the new content from 1.5 to 1.6 (if we even get it then) baffled me, and I think it was one of the silliest decisions despite balancing that they could have made, especially when BF4 and PS4/XBox One is right around the corner. |

If DUST went to PS4 immediately it would be competing head to head with Planetside 2, which would be fresh and new. Better for DUST to come to PS4 six months later when Planetside 2 has gotten stale. Besides, with 6 months more development time DUST will be in a better position to compete head to head with Planetside 2.

You would prefer they released half assGÇÖed unbalanced, glitchy content? They have a release window every month. If something is not ready in time, I would prefer to see them push it back to the next release window.

Yes, actually, I would.
CCP is used to releasing (as you would say) "half-ass'ed" content on a regular basis; Remember matchmaking in 1.4, or flaylocks or draw distance in 1.0, or pretty much anything they usually release... What makes this any different?
Here's the advantage of releasing the content early: You can get people more interested in your game and drive up sales on boosters while people grind for hours on end for new content. Furthermore, they can "hot-fix" all of the problems within a couple days (all small qualities like damage, and AoE, and even price can be fixed over downtime... CCP does it all the damn time).
Here's the disadvantage of not releasing content early: People get more impatient waiting for more months for content to be released, and then save up all of their SP, wondering when the game is going to finally get fun (with new material), or even worse, spend that saved up SP on something you might not necessarily like just to pass time until the next update. Another obvious one is people leaving, of course.
You see... If CCP made a mistake on some of the content, just hot-fix, and everyone will settle down in a couple days (and probably commend your efforts); You can't just add content in the middle of the month, because that requires Sony's QA, so now everyone has to wait EVEN LONGER for new content to come out, and especially when newer competitive games such as BF4 are just around the corner (most people will say "b-b-b-b-but it's an FPSMMORPG, it won't be competitive", but you have to remember that the average gamer does not give a **** about genre-titling; they care more about having fun).
I guarantee that if CCP released this stuff in October, people would be trying to struggle putting enough time in their day for both Dust 514 and BF4, but with how stale this game is, Dust 514 isn't even being considered an option, and it only makes it easier for other games with faster release schedules to take the cake.
