On the same planet, Dust mercs should be able to hold clone production districts while EVE players hold a planetary interaction site. The EVE and Dust players should be capable of a symbiosis in which the Dust player
[In a mixed corporation of both EVE and Dust players:]
- The directors that are EVE player should be able to set and manage resource harvesting planetary interaction (PI) facilities on planets.
- The directors that are Dust players should be able to set and manage the clone production-based surface infrastructure (SI) on the districts. (ALREADY THIS WAY)

- EVE player corporations should be able to issue out battle contract to corporations with Dust players to attack or defend PI facilities on their behalf.
- EVE player corporations should be able to open their PI sites to allied Dust players to defend their PI.

Someone told me this wouldn't make EVE players care about Dust because PI stuff is so cheap that EVE players can just relocate instead of going through the trouble of getting mercs to defend it. I still would like this idea to happen if there was a way to make EVE players care enough to want to defend the PI junk by hiring mercs. That someone also mentioned it would be better to have Dust battles in null influence how fast allied EVE players can gain sovereignty of a solar system, much like Dust FW battles allows for a faction to more easily gain control of territory. |

Add EVE side issued contracts for DUST mercs to maintain PI mining facilities (restart extractors, reposition extractor heads if depositis are overmined or migrated someplace else).
Add more PI colonies per capsuleer via advanced levels of "Interplanetary consolidation" skill.
Lower NPC sell prices for PI products to encourage more PI colonies so EVE pilots will setup more PI colonies and will more likely hire DUST mercs to maintain PI colonies. Collateral is necessary from DUST side. It would be paid back with contract payout. |

You're overestimating the value of PI to EVE. |

Well, PI is still important in the sense that there is no other way to produce the components needed to assemble a control tower to sell in the market. But considering that there are tens of thousands of planets to choose from in the entire galaxy, all an Eve Online player has to do to avoid attack is to simply dismantle their colonies and establish a new one elsewhere. The cost of doing so would be much cheaper than paying a bunch of Dust Bunnies to defend them for you.
Of course, Dust should have some impact in Eve Online's PI system, but the real impact should come from sovereignty warfare as the power blocs of New Eden fight for control of major territories that hold key resources needed for market domination.
One way to go about implementing this is by introducing a new outpost in Dust 514 that can called (for example) the "Command Center". These command centers that are on a number of planets in each system should be connected to the Territorial Claim Unit (TCU) in Eve Online and likely located on the same planet as where the TCU is orbiting.
Now let me remind everyone here that in Eve Online you need enough Sovereignty Blockade Units (SBU) that cover at least half of the stargates in the system in order to put the TCU into a vulnerable state. That's how it is right now in Eve. Now let's see what should happen if the command center is added to the equation.
The command center located in a system on a planet is under the control of Alliance A who also has a TCU in the same system orbiting the same planet. Alliance B decides to attack by planting 3 SBUs in the system since there are 5 stargates in that system in an attempt to put the TCU into a vulnerable state. But it will take time for those SBUs to fully activate.
So Alliance B sends in a group of Dust mercenaries to take control of the commander center. If captured, then the time needed for the SBUs to fully activate is cut in half. On top of that, the TCU is made even more vulnerable because now it is no longer able to withstand as much damage as it could if the command center wasn't captured. It's defenses are cut in half. This means that Alliance A has to scramble as fast as possible to regard control of the command center, force the invading fleet in space into a retreat, and get rid of the SBUs that are activating in space.
This should be one way of improving the connection between the two games so that there can be real meaning to the game itself. |

In an ideal world, the way EVE players would place their PI stuff should auto generate maps for DUST players to concquer some PI stuff on.
for Corps to be able to do anything with PI CCP would have to implement a CORP PI feature though, the only ones doing PI now are individual players.
What would stop EVE corps for just building new PI strutcures, incase they lose them, instead of trying to attack them and creating a nice battle enviroment? |
