While I completely understand why they demoted it, it does make me a little sad how a simple name change made what was once the glorious ninth planet of our solar system, the one which was the furthest from out sun and the closest to the stars, is now indistinguishably lumped in with all the other random rocks of space.

Besides, while Socks IV would be funny, I think it would just start to sounds stupid once the fun wore off, and would open the flood gates for all kinds of other silly names. Seriously, who would want to live on the "Socks" planet?

NFP have posted a poll asking what they should name a planet; the naming of a planet being one of their prizes. I am here today to encourage you all to vote for Pluto as the name of the planet. Why? Why should you vote for Pluto as the name of the planet?

We know from old historical files that there used to be a planet in humanities home system called Pluto. It was stripped of it's status as a planet because humanity thought it was too small to be called a planet, that it didn't deserve to be a planet. This injustice has gone on for far too long. It is time that Pluto not just got it's status back, but found it's way here, to New Eden. I come before you today to ask that you help make this a reality. Give Pluto the respect it deserves. Let it stand as a reminder of the past for all of humanity throughout New Eden. Let it show that the past is not forgotten and that anything lost can be brought back.

Most importantly by naming the planet Pluto we show that size does not matter. We, mercenaries of the ground, occupy a spot in the stars along with capsuleers. Let us show them that size does not matter when it comes to our fighting spirit, our capabilities, and to our desire to work together.

These are the reasons I come before you today to ask that you follow me in voting that the planet be named Pluto.

The reason why Pluto was debunked as a planet was for much the same reason that the planet Juno lost it's planetary status (yes, there used to be a planet Juno), we continued to find similarly sized objects in the same region, and were able to safely determine these were not planets, but dwarf-planetoids that exist near and around large asteroid fields.

If we were to reinstate Pluto there would be just as much cause to enstate a few dozen other planetoids that are all either as large, or larger than Pluto, many even claiming more satellites than Pluto.
