I like it, or rather I have adapted, battles feel alot more slowly paced, I have a huge affect on the field as logistics and I can make a great benefit out of the armor changes, as far as I can tell aim assist has been fixed to the point where it's not too much of a win button (or maybe I'm just used to it by now). However there are obviously still issues with the servers, I'm still not too fond of not being able to tell which team member I'm looking at or their health bar, and there's the fact that these changes haven't been ideal for everyone. I'm hearing that alot of people who use pretty much anything but a medium suit are having trouble, I've heard that the population online is making a steady and sharp decline, the changes I'm guessing were made to facilitate the new players, and yet at peak hours there's less than 4000 people on dust. I don't know how the matchmaking affects new players, but I still see alot of proto stomping and total domination going on, I still see alot of people who have no squads and who are running around like headless chickens. I like some of the changes I've been hearing for 1.5 at least in terms of the UI, I don't typically run vehicles so idk how those changes will play out but I'll certainly be interested on putting a few skill points into the vehicles. I also like the fact that they'll be updating us on their ideas and progress before release so we can give a little feedback even though alot of what I see on the forums tends to fall in the category of whining or paranoid theories, playing out in their minds an over dramatic worst case scenario; transparency and updates are good nevertheless.
In summary, the changes work great for some people, but over all players are on alot less, some have already stopped playing entirely or are planning to as soon as their boosters run out. Whether or not these people were going to stick around anyway, whether they can handle changes well or if they're just whining because someone modified their "win" button, these are people that believe the game is truly broken and the fact remains that the changes being made are reducing the already small population to tinier numbers. I'm worried about the direction the game is taking and am starting to fall into the idea that people will be continuously weeded out until there is a very small number of people in the top corps only playing because of their interest in EVE and the ability to shift the balance of power outside of EVE itself. This is a completely different game from EVE on a completely different system with a different audience and needs to be treated as such. I'd like to see alot more people playing this game and turning it into an EVE annex is not the way to do it. |
