Just got out of a match. driving around in a sica again. was nervous about calling it because a blueberry lost two gunnlogis to that proto assault forge. when i saw that he stopped using it, i called in my sica.
heres my issue, when he saw me doing ok with my sica, he brings out his forge gun again and attacks me. i backed off and heaed for my redline (naturally) to recover my shields. then i see him circling around the redline a shield logi lav.
the reason i have a problem with this is because it lets him completely lock down any and all tanks on the map by himself. all he has to do, is wait for a tank to leave the redline and then drive up behind him with the lav. you cant kill the lav before he gets to you and once he does, all he needs to do is jump out spam av nades at close range and then spam his assault forge gun to finish you off as you try to flee. if you manage to get away, he can chase you in his logi lav to get back into range or line of sight and get you with his forge gun.
you cant do anything about him except hide in your redline or recall your tank. i would have recalled my tank, but i had blueberrie in it
my suggestion is to make heavy dropsuits unable to pilot or drive vehicles. they can still be passengers, but they wouldnt be able to use that tactic anymore. i highly doubt CCP intended for one guy to solo every tank on the map like that.
regular lavs arent an issue obviously because you can kill then before they reach you, but logi lavs with forge guns beat HAV's 90% of the time unless you get lucky with a blaster and shoot him out of the driver seat. |

hahaha
look im not really crying about it as much as im looking at improving the balance of av vs vehicles. forge guns arent meant to be that mobile, and certainly not that mobile while solo. but thats imo. i used to fight djinn kujo when he tried that crap on me, and he died 5 or 6 times doing it, and only managed to kill me once. but that was with me camped in my redline...
he was very determined lol |

read what i wrote. logi lavs dont die in one shot unless youre glass cannon fit, which presents more problems than it solves.
the problem is that most people think heavies should be used like assault suits. there arent designed for that. theyre meant to defend and hold territory.
but if theyre mobile, then they end up defending and holding the entire map. which is a problem in terms of balance |

they can also use a big ass hmg vs some infantry. surely you havent forgotten the murder taxis with hmg's in them?
they can travel, as a passenger. thats what your squad and team is for. to support you and each other. if you dont want their help, then fine.
what you guys want is to drive around in lavs and hop out with your hmg's and forge guns and then hop back back in and drive off when your shields drop. ive seen that alot too.
ask CCP to give heavy suits the base speed of scouts and see what they say. it'd be broken.
ps. if you think heavy suits are slow and fat try driving a tank. at least you can hide in buildings. we cant. and all av has ridiculous range |

Again, it's a issue with the fact tanks are sheer paper.
Any ass wipe with proto AV can rip you a new *******.
Removing the capability to use vehicles makes heavies a large walking speed bump as they move from place to place.
if it was up to me... heavies would be immune to being run over. along with resists to small arms fire and grenades.
they shouldnt be that mobile. they should be thought of like assets, that get "deploy" to areas by being transported.

deepfried salad gilliam wrote:I use sicas, because they don't need sp proto av costs a lot of sp
it depends. i use sicas because theyre cheap. doesnt mean theyre weak though. with my sp, i survive orbitals. i kill maddys and gunnlogis with it no problem. i just killed some guy named purples (i think lol) who ran proto breach forge gun.
the first time i fought him, we killed each other. i fired off a missile salvo just before he popped me and i killed him. the second time i killed him was when he used a cheap ass lav to get at me. he pulls out from around a corner in an armor lav and gets behind me. i thought i was screwed but i got a good hit on him with my missiles before i jumped out to fight him on foot. luckily the blueberry in my tank wasnt useless because he was able to kill him with a small turret after i got purples' health low. |

when we get speeders it will be different as those will be one person vehicles with no tank on them. even the regular lavs are fine really, it just that the llavs can be used to get into range and if things go poorly for the heavy he can simply get back in and drive off without much fuss. thats really the issue here. |

no. but no one should be able to kill any vehicle they want anywhere on the map in under 30 seconds. i cant go to an objective and get back to the redline before he can get behind me. sometimes they can even go into the redline, blow you up, and get out again before their timer runs out.
i know everyone likes when they do it, but theres something wrong there.
mobility surviviabilty firepower
choose two, or all three but less effective than choosing two.
right now the lav give heavies all three at max effectiveness, which in terms of balance, shouldnt be allowed |

thats another issue. forge guns work against everything with great effectiveness. unless they make them keep the player from moving while charging it, i dont see a weakness with it. even sniper rifle require you to be stationary to be effective.
forge guns are so ridiculous that CCP wont allow us to shoot out of dropships and lavs purely because of what it cause. super moblie anti everything llavs. nevermind the dropships really cause nobody would dare fly anything anymore at that point.
what about hmg's shooting out of llavs? thats why the whole heavy weapons being mobile is so imbalanced |

confirmed for sometime this century.

NO, heavies need LAV's for movement. DEAL with it.
why dont scouts have the ehp of heavies then? they need it. why cant scouts use hmgs? they need better guns too.
i'll tell you why, because it would be imbalanced.
your logic is flawed

define solo? do you mean solo as in only one physical tank, or a tank thats got a full crew?
i run my tank with my team as much as possible. but the range on av means that my team often can not engage av, so technically, im still solo unless the av was dumb (or determined) enough to fight me within range of friendly units.
no amount of support will save me from a proto assault forge gun camped on a tower. i will die. my support will die. and all thanks to one guy.
but id be ok with that, only if his team put him up there instead of that heavy flying up there himself and locking down the whole map. |

Thurak1 wrote:Also a assault frame with proto swams and some complex mods would be even more of a thorn in your side. Its not like heavies are the only AV frame out there and its not like the forge gun is that much of a dominating AV weapon. Proto swarms do almost as much damage and allow the shooter to go back into cover quickly. I myself play with both and while i prefer my forge gun i tend to bust more tanks with my swarms, probably because they almost never miss and can just about do a 90 around corners. Honestly this whole thread is a pointless whine. About the only thing correct here is that tanks do need some love and the logi lav's are far too durable. I think everyone knew that already though.
swarms i dont mind as much, besides the rendering problem and ridiculous targeting range , because they cant be used against infantry. |
