publish it to someone who gives a **** Foley, what happened to you? You used to be a really well mannered fellow, but no it appears as though you lack the maturity that you can find even in a small child. Aero, please. You deny your own intelligence and by proxy insult ours. He has been enlightened and sees slavery for what it is; free labor. My head hurts. Are you seriously trying to suggest that "Cool story bro" and "who gives a ****" is mature? And I suppose it doesn't matter how many times we make it clear that Amarr do not do "slavery" for free labor, you guys already made up your mind that that's the only possible reason.
It's like the old story of Ardishapur and the Anmatar Mandate - a individual so convinced that the Amarr are nothing but evil that even when he beared witness to several accounts to the contrary, it was not good enough to break his preconceived notions of who he thought we were. |

I was under the impression you believed both of those (With the exception of the Minmatar under your control). |

No am somewhat more educated that the masses. I am hurt you have so little respect for my intelligence Arkena.
There are many kinds off Amarr, puritanical, conservatives, reformists. I would think myself one of the thinkers of the latter group.
Very obviously old views, and biases have not benefited our Empire. Also I follow the more mild and accepting teaching of St Anoyia. |

Compose oneself, my dear dictative gamin and hearken the plea of a moved man,
I do not believe that the Amarr started slavery on the premise of orchestrating an unrecompensed labor force. Though, for better or worse, the practice has degraded to that. This I most evident in the fact that the Amarr are economically dependent on slave labor. The work the fields, manufacture goods and even perform manual tasks such as house cleaning and other such maintenance work.
To counter your position that you simply wish to educate them on your ways is also flawed. The majority of slaves are not even allowed to learn the practice of literacy. How will they ever learn about your ways if they are not permitted to learn?

How will they ever learn about your ways if they are not permitted to learn? As a less rehearsed gentleman may exclaim, "THIS SYSTEM IS BROKE!". Of course the system works. The Pious and devout and allowed to be free men and women, at that point they can pursue the education that any Amarrian is capable of attaining.
"As centuries passed, the practice of freeing pious and loyal slaves came into being. Because the taking of slaves had been justified through religious means, the Amarr began to view the act as a method of religious rehabilitation. Those slaves who embraced the Amarr religion and proved themselves worthy were granted freedom by their masters, entering Amarr society as peasants.
In the beginning, this was controversial, and many freed slaves were quickly captured and re-enslaved by other slavers. The Council of Apostles, however, ruled that a slave who had been freed was a citizen of the Empire and could not be enslaved again save as punishment for some crime. Gradually, this became the accepted purpose of holding slaves; to instruct them in the Amarr religion until they or their descendants were worthy of joining the Empire as freed men. "

If you guys actually allowed all slaves an equal opportunity to learn, I may actually be alright. Though, the current system of holding the majority of slaves captive without an opportunity to learn, is unfair to all slaves. |

Needs to be educated! Bah! I'd rather be a finite mortal than be an Amarr's slave....How does that sound, "Massuh'"?
On top of that, piece never really works with so many corporations... I'm sure all of you know that war brings money, and money means isk, and with enough isk, the entire universe opens up to you...
Save your pleasant dreams for your death bed, we mercenaries, will not see this war end, there will always be the next, and the war after that, and that's where we'll be needed....to make the bodies, empires, and isk turn in this warring world. |
