Is the only problem with tanks that they move too fast? I mean I understand how they move so fast on the road but... offroad? I'm a big world of tanks player and I like how the kind of ground you drive on has an effect. There is even a module to increase speed off road why can't dust have that?
I think it's silly to see tanks go up a hill at full speed makes them more slower uphill and faster down hill. It's doesn't have to be as slow as WoT it just needs to be faster/slower based on the ground in some way. I don't think you should mess with the numbers before you mess with the core mechanics.
After burners aren't even needed on a tank, they should be more useful, useful for going up hills for example, but then you need to wait for the cooldown to go up another extreme offroad path... |

Max speed is pretty good yes, but acceleration is really disappointing. If anything, I would trade some speed for some acceleration.
I don't know what other tankers think about this, though.
That's not what I mean they could even keep the current speed the same. But off road should be 20% slower. It's fun how in *other games with tanks* there are about 7 ground types all of which effect speed differently. Uphill and downhill. Making raids downhill exciting and fun, and catching a tank moving uphill is fun because you catch it in a weaker position. It only adds more positional strategy.
Places road connect become more obvious tank routes, LAVs gain more of a role by being off road vehicles...

Most of us have nitrous now to get away from OP swarms, and scrub AV naders who try to pack a LAV and zerg rush us.
ah then maybe all I'm asking for is roads to become important by being where tanks can move fastest.

It makes roads more than just a texture o the map... It makes them the place tanks are king. Catching a tank moving up a hill gives an advantage. Using a hill to escape in a tank become a fun tactic
I'm going to give you some advice, since you appear to be new here. Don't get to dreaming. This game is already in a form of development hell, and asking for them to do things that are way beyond their capabilities is going to lead to nothing but disappointment. We don't even have moving tracks, and you want them to redo the maps to add terrain softness, which would be a huge task, and add additional stress to an already overworked engine. Given the already massive problems with the way in which the engine is handling the data it needs to sort, trying to add terrain values would only create a massive mess.
new here I've been playing beta since skirmish 1.0...
I know adding this feature wouldn't tax UDK but then again CCP did build there own better version *rolls eyes* |

I don't want to nerf tanks CCP does I'm offering an alternative path than just making them suck everywhere... making them suck off road... Unless you fit mods to go offroad
I've been tanking for over a year it's just on the new map there are places where tanks move too fast it's bad game design it hurts the game. It overpowers tanks to have them able to move so quickly when not evena single tnk in WoT goes as fast as a tank in this game. It's dumb.
Tanks are slow, they are tanks.
After burners should make a real difference
Terrian needs to be taken into account so the game is more dynamic and has more combat awareness. |

Terrian needs to be taken into account so the game is more dynamic and has more combat awareness. Your comparing a nuclear turbine to a combustion engine FYI. O.0 of course these tanks are going to be faster. Speaking of faster... Tanks have horrendous turning speed ingame. Considering that the treads can turn independently, these tanks only turn at 40% the expected rate. I used to have a toy RC car that had two sticks one for left wheels one for right. It was moderately fast as toys back then went, but when I pushed the sticks on opposing directions, that little car spun like a top. The reason being is that when it was spinning like that it didn't have to move its center of gravity thus allowing faster turning than acceleration. Dust tanks have this same separation due to the treads but somehow they loose power when turning. Never even considered this, yes tanks do turn far to slow |
