Quote:I took a break after uprising because I just got fed up with the disappointments and lack of content with the so called "full release" build(how could they release the game with more than half the content missing?).
You want to know? This is standard procedure. Dust isn't the only game like this. Take a look at Mechwarrior Online. Was released 3 days ago. You know what changed? Nothing. Still the same game it was during Beta. No new features added. Content like Community Warfare still missing (We're lucky with Dust, that we at least have Faction Warfare and Planetary Conquest).
Now take a look at Warframe. It's in Beta for a long time now. Every now and then they release a new patch which introduces new Warframes and weapons, maybe a new map. But the rest? Randomly generated levels. All you can do is farm until you have all the equipment. PvP is broken as ****. Introduced and never talked about again. Can't see how that game will change much with the official release.
Planetside 2. Don't even know much about that. Played it during beta and shortly after the release. I think they got 2 new continents to fight over. Not really that it matters. No Winner is ever declared. You do the same stuff all the time. You fight over the same buildings over and over again until the server is reset.
Dust isn't special. Actually: These problems are what every F2P-game has. I for one decided to stick with Dust. Because unlike all the other F2P games my patience will at least be somewhat rewarded, with a game supposed to run for at least 10 years.
An argument mentioned very often is the amount of active players. Yeah. The ones of Dust are falling. According to Eve offline we have something between 3000 and 4000 players being online. Last peak was the 15. September with 4800 players. But take a look at Planetside 2. Obviously Dust 514 biggest competitor because of the setting.
http://www.steamgraph.net/index.php?action=graph&jstime=1&appid=218230&from=1353279600000&to=End+TimeDamn. Down to 5000. Almost the same amount of players like Dust. Ok, these are only the Steam numbers and some people may play it without logging into Steam. But it can't have more than 10.000 players. And people here flame about how much better Planetside 2 apparently is. I would even say Planetside 2 becomes less fun because of this. I mean how much fun is a game about big battles if you have problems finding enough players to make a single attack? And you can notice a rapid decline. At least Dust is still playable even when only 200 players are online.
MWO doesn't even have official numbers on the active players. But apparently the players are annoyed that they always see the same faces and think the amount of active players is very low:

Player numbers according to Steam peak at 15.000 at the moment. Not counting people logging in without using steam.
http://store.steampowered.com/stats/So people should really chill. Dust isn't special. It's about as good as all the other F2P games out there. And at least CCP has Eve on it's side. A lot of players will probably want to play it as soon as we get more content and make the news too with some crazy actions. We're doing good so far. The Molden heath Revolution was something many gaming sites wrote about.
