Am I crazy, or do these first three shots look like they come out in under a second?

I was recording, and I began recording because of how fast this dude was firing.
I wish I was recording sound, you could hear how fast it was.
There were 4 shots in total, 3 fast, the third one is hard to see because it is head on and behind my ADS, the fourth he fired later than the other 3 |

This is possible. Never seen lag that cause a mass driver to appear to fire multiple shots a second. Again, I wish you could hear it |

Viktor Hadah Jr wrote:Your crazy, judging from the count down timer on dust the duration between the fire of the first shot and the 3rd is 3 seconds.
The first shot is fired just before 11:35, all three of the first 3 were fired before 11:34, the last shot, the 4th was fired at 11:33. Watch the smoke trails |

i imagine it takes a specialised macro to recreate this
To get a better idea of how fast they are firing, watch the numbers on my health decrease, not the health bar, but the numbers. You can see 3 distinctive drops in about a second. |

I don't think that was lag switching, his clone wasn't jumping around. If the recording showed him shoot me from one position, then appears 3 meters to the left shooting I'd agree. This was just fast MD. I was hearing it all game, it kinda stood out. |

Monkey MAC wrote:Its lag on his side, its the original desynch server error. You get from time to time, pull trigger ammo count goes down but shot appears .5 secs later. If you only lag for a short while then shots stackvand realease very quickly.
it just happened to go his way, he probablymshotmthe first 2 while you weren't looking at him!
If what you are saying is true, wouldn't I only expect to see and hear this only if he was shooting me?
Keep in mind that this was happening all game. i would post more video, but I wasn't recording sound, and this was the only time I faced off on him when I was recording.
The sound was unmistakably unusual, usually in groups of four (thunk, thunk, thunk, thunk,) really fast. When I first heard it my first thought was "there is no way that is one mass driver", but it was consistent in it's rhythm, and from a consistent sound source. So I thought either there were two players with MDs standing in very close proximity, and harmoniously firing together, or this is a glitch. I started recording and looking for him after I got killed by him the first time. I spent the rest of the game looking for him to cap that video.

Magnus Amadeuss wrote:Is there a method to detecting lag switches or any type of mediation for them?
I had never heard of them before this thread. After reading up on them they are absolutely game-breaking.
Not that I know of. I think it would be to hard for automated analysis to distinguish from normal latency.
This does not seem like lag switching. As someone else said, the game did not feel laggy, and if my understanding of lag switching is correct, i would've only noticed the effect when they were shooting at me. I notice the sound throughout the whole game. |

We heard him before we saw him ... it was so stinkin' obvious. Thump-Thump-Thump ... Boom-Boom-Boom Roughly 1/4 second lapse between shots.
They've found a way to bypass fire-rate cap on the MD. It's quite an entertaining obscenity to observe firsthand. Thankfully, it isn't commonly exploited. Yet.
Glad someone else heard it. Like I said in this thread and the bug thread I submitted, it sucks I wasn't recording sound. If you heard it you'd immediately know something was up. The MD sound is very distinctive, when you hear it rapid fire it really stands out as an unusual sound. |

You're saying the video I posted was normal RoF? No way. |

This is exactly what we tried. Fire sprint, fire sprint, fire sprint. You can do it on a ds3 controller, but not easily. kbm and macro-controller are the ways to benefit from this exploit. So that is what does it? Jep, I posted here that I was able to reproduce it, neglected to say how. My bad.
Jak, if you can reproduce it, let's cap some video tonight. |

I was trying to ensure that I got good video. I wish I would've fired at all so the third shot would've never been in question.
Remember I started recording and spent the game chasing after this dude to get good footage of it in case no one believed me.
If I had been recording sound, I would've post more video to show multiple audio examples. This clip was perfect because he was alone, so no chance of another MD user nearby firing at me. |
