So it seems that the current squad order that works the majority of the time is the defend order. It seems to really only work when you perform an action within a certain proximity of the defend order. It is uncertain what this range is, but it seems to mean it has the greatest affect if your whole squad is battling in and around this person. It makes sense as a defend order, but A) none of the other actions give WP I don't think and B) it sort of means that it doesn't allow for a squad to be operating under orders with a lot of tactical efficiency.
I'm imagining that there will be a devblog about Squad Orders in 1.5 pretty soon, but what if:
-Different squad order types gave different rewards (attack person game +50% rewards, ;rally at this location' gives 5 points on arrivial (cooldown expected)) -There were heal/resupply/revive/'mayday' orders that non-leaders could give. -so many orders could be given at a time (maybe based on skills...?)

The attack order needs a much larger radius. If you put it on an objective you should get the command bonus for maybe 50 meters in order to cover the action to take that point. |

I just wish it wasent so anoying to give orders, the order selection feels clunky and rarely works for me. |

Defend orders give a +20% bonus to actions. Should attack orders also be +20% or should they be different? |

I'm fine with a blanket 20% bonus to keep it simple. The attack order can only be placed on enemy targets and the leader will be working more to constantly retarget if it is used. If the standard defend order is left as is it still provides a decent generic order to keep up but I'd like to see attack used more often.
Hmm... thinking of a 'commander gun' which is a cross between active scanner and squad orders. Must ingest more coffee to fully realize this concept. |

I think a sort of hierarchical approach to 'orders' would be nice. Squad leaders could issue OPORDs which would be general orders that do not expire until another OPORDs is issued, or the OPORD's condition is filled. This would generally involve:
Defend Objective (standing order - +30% bonus for logistics actions performed at location, removed if location is captured) Defend Location (standing order - +30% extra bonus for logistics actions performed at location) Attack Objective (fulfilled when objective is owned by your team +20 pts per member in area when point is hacked) Attack Location (standing order - +30% extra bonuses for combat action performed at location) Recon Objective (fulfilled if LOS/Scan is performed at location) Recon Location (fulfilled if LOS/Scan is performed at location)
Then there could be secondary FRAGOs that do not interrupt OPORDs. They could help inform team members of additional tasks to complete. There could also be up to 3 FRAGOs issued at a time.
Destroy target (destroying target grants +30% bonus to action) Repair target (repairing target to 100% health removes FRAGO, grants +25% bonus to action) Rally point (+25% for actions performed at rally point (vehicle drop-off?)) |

I would like some personal order/requests in the normal radial menu. Like a HEAL ME PLEASE! Or a HOLY POOP I NEED AMMO LIKE NOW! Just put them in the empty slots in the weapon/equipment wheel. As a logibro that can't see friendlies health anymore, this would make me more efficient in my repping. |

the problem with attack orders is they stop working if you stop looking at them, put the order on an objective and hide behind cover and then your squad order is lost, target a person to kill, and they move behind cover and it's lost.
it's just not practical |

If only there were people out there who could progressively improve the game away from broken mechanics like this... |

I protest the usage of the term "blob" to describe 6x squad mates working together. |

My point was about the nature of the defend order. For everyone to get points for their kills/work, it has to be close to the defend order. I have nothing against a well coordinated 6 man squad, but to get maximum WP do they really all need to be that close, or could we let the squad order system become its own role that gives a squad leader and a team a significant leg up if they are good. |

At the very least, when a capture order succeeds, have it switch over to 'defend.' Or, if you had put up defend orders on a soldier, have the defend order switch over to the nearest squad-mate after they have been terminated. |

Actually I know for a fact that Rally Command works
Place the rally command over someone and works just like a defend order I know Attack works but it's so hard to make use of it

So is there a functional difference? You can place a rally command wherever you want. On the ground, on a wall (maybe), on a person. I haven't tried putting it on an enemy though (they keep moving) so maybe not anywhere.

The majority of the time I'm giving out defense orders. I use the attack order whenever my squadmates are unsure of enemy rushes or need to know where they coming from.
Also, the defend order shouldn't give points to those around the player. Keep it going to the squad leader. Being in a squad means you in it not for selfish WPs but to collectively attack and defend objectives. Soldiers need to understand this. As long as we get the Precisions and we raise the morale of our team by our actions; gaining that should be more important than gaining WPs for self. |

Excellent OP +1.
I agree that the use of squad orders could really be optimized and provide a modest SP gain for the SL and sqd. One thing I would ask (at least for DS3 set ups) is a bit more intuitive or simplistic way to issue orders than juggling the R3 and stick while potentially aiming at moving "targets".
Would be really nice to be able to give tactical orders from the map In a way similar to calling orbital strikes. I think having the SL equip his forearm computer (neocom?) similar to how you detonate remote explosives and key hot commands such as attack, defend, rally to trigger buttons might be the way to go.
Last bit....I would REALLY like to be able to drop an attack order on individual opposing players and WP bonus for every kill against that guy until the FRAGO is changed. |
