Its called the "Allotek Nonahive (R)".
If you can afford them, and not least fit them, they have a wopping 88 CPU and 16 PG fitting cost....
This is a proto dual nanohive which means that it will start to regen your armor, provided that you lack any, at 40 HP per impulse. If your armor is "full" you'll get 45 AR bullets per interval. You carry 3 and can deploy max 2 at a time.
So whats the big deal?
Well, due to new "hit detection" having a big Alpha tank is more important than ever. Why waste a precious low slot for a mere 5 armor regen per second? And thats with the expensive to fit proto repper. Toss that module asside and fit another plate instead. You'll soon see that even with a basic armor plate (85*1,1= 93.5 HP) your survivability will increase. And another point is that a decent armor repper + a decent nanohive doesn't take especially more of your fitting space than an Allotek hive + 1 basic plate.
I'll use my proto Cal assault suit as an example: 3 extenders + proto energizer = 480ish shileds with a 50+ recharge per second after delay. 1 basic and 1 enhanced plate = 360ish armor with no regen.
So you get a nade in the face and barely survive to get around the corner. Lets say this takes 5 seconds and your shields start to regen. By throwing down a hive you'll practically have a HP regen of 90+, you'll soon face your enemies again in tip top shape.
Additional benefits are the +25 WP you get for friendlies using the repper function, do you have a hard pressed fatty on your team? Well give him some love.
You can always throw down 2 in a pinch and get 130+ HP regen, or at least the 80 armor regen...
- Its sort of funny how my assault fits can rep teammates but none of my logi fits can...
TDLR: Allotek nanohies are just super-duper.

This is because I would give up some parts of my equipment which are even more important for my playstyle (my Assault suit does not provide great PG/CPU even at decent core skills levels), but if I were the typical run-and-gun assaulter I would definitely go for them.
Thats just it, its great for assult players. I can still fit a Duvolle, proto nades and a toxin smg...
I can't really see any benefit in fitting anything else... |

Sounds like an excellent tip for people who like to stay in one spot or for DS3 users, getting equipment out on KBM is sometimes an excersise in frustration and gets you killed more times then not, it might be my mouse but i am not going to replace a mouse that costs as much as a PS3 console, they will have to fix their game first and foremost. Ive also found that the longer you stay in one spot the bigger the likelyhood someguy wants revenge and sets himself up with his hive inside throwing distance + loads of armor = NadeSplode. But excelent tip regardless.
Well thanks, and to be clear: I'm not the kind of player "who likes to stay in one spot", ask anyone who's ever played with me.
Its more a matter of a max 10 sec pitstop, before going back into the action. Which is kind of the point, I can get my 850ish HP back in about 15 seconds, even with depleted shield delay. Its more of a "run and gun" fitting than a camper fitting...

For personal healer hives I stick with the K-17Ds - they'll only heal around half that before popping and don't have a fast enough heal rate to really keep you alive under fire, but do very well in regenerating your armor if you are in a relatively safe area. They also cost a whole lot less in both ISK and fitting costs.
Thanks for the numbers, I've been wondering.
They certainly seem to fill me up with both armor and ammo before being depleted. |

Do you use them with an assault suit or a logi one ? I think idd be cramped to use them on my Amarr Suit with Imperial Scrambler (those suckers use too much PG) with all skills at V, ill be on tonight so ill defo give it a try-run and see if it or not cramps my style.
I use the rep hive on my assault fits.
Its almost impossible to fit it to a Cal logi suit after the "not deserved" CPU nerf, especially if proto scanner and uplinks are your first priorities, besides, the logi suit already have a buildt in armor rep. |

Well, I normally die of boredom, litterally, if I don't have an energizer on, and having a logi suit without a scanner these days just isn't worth it.
And saying that's a fast suit is stretching it.... |
