I'm curious if anyone has got all the proto weapons yet. And tried to find out the pros and cons of each.
I just got lv 5 LR and I really like it as an over watch weapon not made for sniping or assaulting but it can make people think twice about crossing open ground.
Got the lv 5 SR this non tac model I didn't try very long I didn't like how quick it over heated but I love the tac version. Melts shields caldari have little chance. It's great at longer to med ranges great for handling groups(more than one enemy) I say this because most people back off when their shields drop. So I'm pro SR now its almost OP... Almost.
Lv 5 Smg great side arm it will save ur life more than not. Smgs are just great for finishing off a enemy in armor. Today someone wrecked me with full shields not sure how that happened I was like this is pretty much close range only if some is mid range with a bit of armor left a Smg will still get it done.
Lv 5FLP well they were OP now I would have to say they may be just a bit underpowered just a bit. Still a great sidearm and very low on fittings the pg I believe. A FLP can be used at close to mid range but you have to be one hell of a shot no matter what range u use it. I stopped using it because I just suck with it now it is not friendly to guys like me that can't shoot.
Lv5 SG I don't honestly see the point in take SG to 5 if I could respec I wouldn't waste of SP all the SGa do about the same DMG a military SG can own u if ur not careful. Great great weapon again u need decent gun game to make this baby work or an enemy that's.not moving. But you can mow down an enemy squad rather easy if u get the jump on them great ambush weapon and point defense. Some days I have notice improve hit detection other days I'm like I know I hit that bastard why is he stil kickin....? Anyway only use at close range.
Lv 5 AR. This is my baby been using it forever in the hands of a master this thing can be unstoppable. I believe I had gone 44-0 with it. Great for moving around taking the fight to the enemy. You can go through ammo pretty fast I suggest a nano hive. This is a new players best friend a AR can get any job done. Great at mid to close range I don't this it works as well on groups. But if u can get them to come after you one at a time your in business. The Tac AR is great to more of a support weapon I wouldn't suggest going Rambo with a tac not so hot at close ranges.
That's what I think of the proto weapons I have used so far.
Working on the sniper rifle and mass driver next.
What do u think of the weapons you have mastered?

I agree 100% on the Shot gun, not need to really get lvl 5 in it, i find myself doing aswell with the basic as i do the advanced, its all about getting those 2 shots in before they can turn around, anything under a heavy usualy dies to those two shots so havign more damage is kinds meh. |

Proto snipers are nice. If only for gaining access to the Charge Sniper. It's beastly on its own but really shines with proficiency 3+ and 3 complex mods. It does just enough damage to one shot 90% of the suits you see and headshot 99%. The other two are good too, but the charge is where it's at in my opinion. |

Matchmaking must be working because this is definitely not my experience. More often than not my charge rifle will only take out a persons shields with a body shot. 90% OHKs? I don't think so my friend. |

I may be out of touch. I've been at prof 5 for a bit and I do pick and choose my targets and I exaggerate.... So maybe more like 80%. But really. The charge sniper is a blast. |

I wouldn't say someone who skilled into all weapons to proto is "Jack of all trades". Probably would say they are stupid for doing so.

I am a jack of all trades for infantry. Nearly every weapon skill is 3, with the exception of a small handful which are 1 or 2, and a certain few that are 5 added with proficiency of at least 3..
Advanced weaponry is just as good as prototype in most cases. In the proper hands, of course.
This little "spreading" is not limited to weapons, as I do have quite a bit invested into the Gallente suits and, of course, the only damn heavy.
I am, at worse, the advanced runner. I run standard at most time, due to my heavy investment into core skills. The additional training in weapons and suits does still affect standard, so I have a small upper hand. I can be the one patching people up, turning around to a supply depot, grabbing my handy dandy FG, and taking on the vehicles. I prefer being the logibro over the heavy. It's gotten boring to potato gun people, despite me always being on level ground with them, if not at the lower altitude. They need all the help they need.
But is it worth it to be JoaT? For me, it most certainly is. I can be anything that is needed.
Is it worth prototyping everything? That's such a bad idea. I'll reserve reasoning for it until asked. |

I was really bored with the game before I started using new weapons and making no fits like getting dressed for the club it's nice to have options. |

The skills to support each weapon are pretty important too, I feel. Damage bonuses, faster reloads, less dispersion. Without those, you really are not a master of anything. lvl V in the primary is just a base prerequisite. |

If I were u I'm guessing u have a about 10-12mil sp I have 24mil for the last few months I have had nothing to do with my sp I had everything lv 5 I wanted. Then I just decided to see how the other half live.
Hell I might even become a tanker why not?
I find no fault in going for JoAts if u have a constant to fall back on and ur core skills are good.... That being said I still don't have armor upgrades to 5 lol. |

Nah I'm not talking about mastering just using them all it would take far too long to get the support skills up and the only one worth a damn is the damage bonus. |

The weapon support skills are pretty nice to have. - prof is usually a damage bonus - reload speed - pg cost reduction - max ammo carried
All of these things are mad useful. If you have a weapon you enjoy running, or run most of the time, getting all the supports to 4 can make a difference.

I haven't even got that on my AR and I can't see how having more ammo could help I carry nano hives pg I have no use for reload speed what it will take what 2/5 of a second no Thx I reload behind cover so still not needed. But if they work for the majority of people that's great I just think support skills cost too much sp for no real combat advantage, |

Unfortunately, Shotgun Operation Lv5 is necessary for Shotgun Proficiency, which is awesome for this weapon.
If you ask me, unlocking Proto variants is just the beginning. Proficiency is probably the most important skill to train and every weapon particularly benefits from specific skills (Ammo for MD, Sharpshooter for SMG...)
On topic, Proto Scrambler + Proficiency is wtf amazing and I'm glad that just few people actually realized how good it is. Maybe it's because AR is easier to use, I don't know, but good Scrambler users are the players I fear the most.
Proto weapon level is absolutely a must for a dedicated sniper. The Charge Sniper is pretty fun, but without 3 Complex damage mods and Proficiency Lv 3-5 you can 1shot only militia suits or scouts, which is frustrating. Skilling into Sniper Rifles really makes the difference here, you are much more effective and sniping becomes much more enjoyable.
Proto AR is just good at everything, not much to say. Tactical AR is completely different. It's my favorite weapon in the game and I sinked my SP into AR just because of it. Even though the normal AR is generally a superior and more versatile gun, I simply love the Tac.
