Who here would be fine if we asked CCP to HOLD BACK 1.5 for a few weeks so we can still get the weapons and vehicles in before November? And DISCLAIMER: I am NOT AN HAV PLAYER. I'm just your average ground-pounder, and I want to see each numbered update mean something rather than just count out the months.

I'd rather have whatever content is ready now and then have the rest of the updates in November, giving CCP a full month to fine tune the vehicles and weapons. I see no reason to rush it. |

Or... Ship what they have ready for 1.5 and deliver 1.6 in November like planned. Why do you want them to skip a month? |

1.5 was "fixed" or "set" awhile back too, so I would suppose they knew the vehicle and gun stuff wouldn't be happening awhile back. |

I think he means have 1.5 come out in the middle of October, thereby making all of the updates be the middle of the month moving forward, or having the development time shifted to 6 weeks instead of monthly. I'd rather have smaller updates every month, personally, and say give us what you have now and put the rest in the next update. More planning time for CCP equals more quality.
Kudos to CCP for pushing content back that wasnt' ready instead of shipping something not ready. They are getting better at their decision making. |

No, the patch has not been content locked. That usually happens about 2 weeks ahead of the release so that they have time for Sony to QA the release first. |

Was in favour at first, but that's just me being impatient.
I'm not very happy with CCP for failing to deliver, but they have a their monthly timetable. I think asking to rearrange it for the sake of getting new content a couple of weeks earlier is only going to slow them down more. |

Because, as nice as the idea of 'monthly updates' sounds, there needs to be a good deal of content in them. Many of us, especially the vehicle players, have been hit with a 'maybe next month', sometimes a chain of them. I am not asking to push 1.5 back an entire month, but if all they need is a few weeks to iron things out then I'd be glad to wait two weeks as opposed to five. Other people will give the 'Other games and consoles' spheal, but I just want them to be able to add this stuff as soon as possible. |

Having a fixed-length release cycle is a sound development strategy: you pick a date, and release what is ready. There are a load of different activities that need to be coordinated, sometimes well in advance, for a release. When you slip, all these activities need to be replanned, and that takes time away from actual development.
What you often find when you start slipping dates is that there is always a reason to slip another day or two, and the more you slip the more reasons you create for yourself to slip again.
Honestly, we are better off with fixed release dates, even though it is frustrating when stuff gets dropped from releases because it isn't ready.
That said, I do wish CCP would be a little more cautious with their promises sometimes. |

How about this...
Stop with the monthly cycles until the winter expansion rolls around. As it stands right now they get maybe a week of coding, followed by weeks of testing and bug quashing. I'd like to see the coding cycle last longer. |

no it wasn't? haven't you read anything the devs have said? The whole reason they don't release patch notes until a week in advance is because they don't know exactly whats going to make it or not. Their 'plans' were set a while ago, but that doesn't mean the content was. |

Software scheduling, even with the Agile methods used by CCP, requires planning and allocation of resources. Sony is expecting a release to test and has allocated their own resources. So I ask again, why sit on completed features when the next release will be one month behind it? It's disappointing when a feature you are interested in doesn't make the cut. It happens all the time. Delaying two weeks would just create a train wreck that you don't see.

I think the four week schedule misrepresented how a team like that actually operates. A single cycle feature gets a week of development time. Larger changes will be in production over the entire month and will be folded in when ready. A great example of this is the new outposts. Cargo Hub and Production are in active development but they will be worked on the entire time and not just one week out of the four as describe by Hans. By delaying the vehicle changes it gets more than just a week of additional effort. It gets an entire month.

I understand exactly how much of a hassle it could be to hold off for a few weeks, but I have two major points. The petty point that there just doesn't feel like enough 'update' here for it to be 1.5. More like 1.4.1. The reasoned point that once they finish Vehicles and Guns, they will just have to sit on it for anywhere from three to five weeks because of the monthly release schedule. |

Most of this stuff would be snuck in if it were TF2, or even EVE. The confirmed contents are mostly things we won't even see or feel at all during average play. Corp Roles are nice for the CEOs, but they're they only ones who will notice. Tutorials are nice, but anyone who actually plays the game won't even know they were added. We need them to help new-new players, but for everyone here now it's too late. Squad Finder and WP changes can go either way though... I REALLY hope they're bloody MIND BLOWING. |

I don't know, but me and over 10 of my closest corp members are pretty much done with this game until Winter rolls around; I have been waiting patiently for CCP to get this game on track since closed beta, and my patience has finally run out. With the delay of the much needed 1.5 patch material, I have nothing to look forward to in October except maybe Battlefield 4 (which GTA V will keep me busy until).
I hope the community doesn't mind a large influx of AFKers in the game, cause I know many people who will do so to cap out quickly, then play another game.
On the bright side, I will have s**t loads of ISK and SP just sitting when I get back to the battlefield to actually play. With only 2 more months until the release of the PS4, and CCP pulls this gimmick. Let's just say they made their own bed (or coffin, in Dust 514's case). |

Yeah, I've been taking a break to play some Diablo 3 on the PS3. Quite fun!
On topic: no they should not. Keep the development cycle on track and just deliver the content next time around. I'd rather get corporation roles sooner than having to wait. |
