ive been kind of reraining from going proto in scout, because i want to get REALLY good as a scout before i start spending so much isk on scout fits. oh yeah im again on vita so there may be a few spelling errors. anyway, i can easily make it in the top 3 of the scoreboard, but i want to get better. a few scouts i kind of look up to are
Shotty GoBang Whycantidie maken tosch
these guys are AMAZING scouts who can go like 20-0 in alot of matches. i want to be really awesome like them someday, not just my lame 12-2 scores.
anyway this brings up the question: which scout should i go proto in?
im already up to 3 in minmatar scout but ive recently been using the dragonfly scout with much success. i am a nova knife and shotgun user, but ive heard people have much success with a SG + SMG combo on a gallente scout.
i enjoy speed tanking, but i do better when i EHP tank instead. recently ive been using reactive plates on my scout suit.
also ive been saving my sp for 1.5 for the new myterious weapons, so i have about 2,100,000 sp.
thanks in advance |

Well, my KDR took a nose dive since 1.4 but I'm still being a scout regardless. There are three options in which you can be a great scout.
1. Gallente Proto + Profile Dampeners = You can't see me! 2. Gallente Proto + Range Amplifiers = I can see you through the wall without an active scanner at 80+ meters, bro! 3. Minmatar Proto + Light Damage Mods = I name my shotgun Betsy. 4. Minmatar proto + Sidearm Damage Mods = That's right, Caesar. It was me.
Ok that was four. |

Just once I'd like to see my name in a list like that. Anyway, I personally use a Gallente suit, my reasoning being because I'm drawn more to the stealth aspect of the Scout rather than the speed, for this I find the Gallente suit to be superior, particularly when paired with a Scrambler Rifle, but it sounds like you're more of a close range Shock Attack suit, which is where the Minmatar excels due to it's speed and melee/knife bonus damage. I personally don't tend to put much shield or armour modules on unless I don't have anything else to put there, for example the High slots on my Hacker, and even then only one, so it's a squishy suit, but I rarely go negative isk-wise or below 1 kdr-wise.
So basically, it sounds like a Minmatar suit would go with you better, but of course, it's your choice. I just say this because you can speed tank whilst shield tank so you can get close and potentially last enough to get a few kills or potshots (theoretically, I'm not sure how it is cpu and pg-wise) Hope I helped |

Think of it this way.
When we get eWar, Gallente will be the eWar specialists. They will be scouts that excel in Gathering information, and staying off the radar to hack, and infliltrate.
Minmatar scout is made for a hit-n-run or Assassin style gameplay. Get in, kill, get out.
While both are deadly in CQC, the difference in their playstyle comes from the duration of the fight.
A Gallente scout can easily take down one or two people, but when they take damage they need to GO. Most of them armor tank with reppers, but reps are slow, and after they get hurt, they need to leave and hide for their eHP to go back up.
A minmatar scout uses shields. So long as shields aren't broken, they can get back to full fighting strength in a few seconds. They favor the hit and run tactic, taking down one or two oppenents, and then running away. Then, you attack from another angle, and repeat until you die or they die.
One role is mostly offensive, one is mostly defensive.
This is the difference between Minmatar and Gallente in my opinion.
By the way, I run Minmatar Scout myself. We need to get Marauder or Shotty in here to tell us about the Gallente. I feel safe in answering Minmatar questions though. |
