So I've been thinking this idea the last few days... A new way of EVE-Dust collaboration...
What if there are ships in EVE which can carry clones. These clones would then be able to board a ship and fight for control of the ship they've boarded just like pirates...
The EVE player would keep the ship, and the Dust players would be awarded a contract...
When boarding a similarly equipped ship there could be PvP battles for control of the ship... While when boarding regular types of ships there could be PvE battles... Of course there would be a standard defense equipment on board every EVE ship but EVE players could outfit their ships with even stronger defenses...
I'd really like the idea to fight aboard an enemy ship deep in space... And it wouldn't be really close quarters battles only... There are ships in EVE that can launch smaller ships, or Drones... These would have large launching bays, which are obviously the easier part from which to board a ship as well... Instead of trying to drill a hole in the outer skin... Which is not completely out of the question either... Would be awesome...
Can you imagine this kind of fighting aboard a Supercapital...?
Awesome or what..?
P.S. Before the raging starts, let me state that I have never played EVE online... |

Penetration game mode is already on the roadmap. Will allow Dusties to enter Titans. Everything else wouldn't be really worth it, because the other ships probably pop before a Dust round ends. |

OK... But if the EVE player would like to keep the ship, he wouldn't pop it, would he?
I agree though that apart from Titans, this could only be a pirate tactic for smaller classes...
EDIT: Hacking individual parts of the ship, like the controls for its weapons systems one by one... That way you'd cripple it slowly... |

The ships pop because of thousands of lasers, rockets and projectiles hammering its structure. You can't really influence that. More than often the fights aren't 1 on 1. And most Eve players probably don't care about trying to capture a small frigate or destroyer. Especially because you would have to leave your own ship behind to fly it away. Titans on the other hand can't dock on stations anyways and are always in space. |

That and the fact that players in smaller ships have a high tendency to self destruct their own ship if they feel like trolling the DUST mercs. Titans are a different matter because they are extremely expensive (billions of ISK a piece) and construction of these ships is a massive undertaking which is why most titan pilots never self destruct. |

As much as I think the boarding idea is silly for most ships in eve, I do think it'd be pretty awesome to be boarding a ship and have the pilot decide to give us the middle finger. Suddenly flashing red lights and klaxons everywhere. Welp. Didn't want those dropsuits anyway. I think the big thing that would be really weird though with boarding is that capsuleer ships do actually have a crew, and we're not likely to actually see npc non-enhanced humans in Dust. It'd be like boarding a ghost ship.
But maybe that's a pve idea...boarding capital ship wrecks and fighting against automated defenses, as part of a salvage operation. You don't get a ship to fly away in but you could get some of the components that were used to build it. |

Boarding a player's ship in EVE is like if someone boarded your dropsuit, only your dropsuit cost 100x more than it does now (scaled to DUST pricing and ISK accrual).
Imagine playing a round of Skirmish or Ambush and then suddenly you lose your 200m dropsuit because of other player's actions in another game, and your only option to fight it was to kill yourself and lose it anyways. |

ARx speaks the truth. Penetration gameplay will never apply to EVE ships.
Like I've always said, expect to see it in 0.0 outposts

There needs to be a reason for us to board stations in 0.0 space. Right now, why would we bother? |

*self-destructs* And then you don't get the ship. |
