Make me lead developers for a while, with some programmers and artist. I can direct this game into the right direction to at least be decent if not great.
I will share ideas and redesigns I would make to Dust 514 if I were lead developer of this project. Feel free to comment on them. Thats what Discussion forums are all about after all. Lets start. ====================================================================================
1) The slow Separation of PS3 Dust 514 from PS4 Dust 514 (new name Dust X for PS4 version)but still linked:
*Dust X keeps all the same game modes that Dust 514 has, and also has cross play between the two.
*Dust X introduce new game modes that would be difficult to run on a PS3. Those ideas below:
*1-A) Persistent World Map battle mode: In this mode the players are all placed in a large game world, made up of 4 factions. The world server holds up to 3000 players max. The world is split up into 3 smaller Districts for players to fight over. The Districts are connected by 2 Border sea districts which feature naval combat as well as aerial combat for managing supply transport between districts. Each District has capture points spread across the map. battles will be directed to specific locations with a battle lock system that prevents certain empty populated capture points from being taken completely, and paths players into massive battles. The world also has alien monsters that will try to destroy you and your team. so take care of them and take whatever resources they may have and use it against your enemy factions.
*1-B) 64 player Capture king of the hill mode: Players battle it out in two teams of 32 players. One team is on defense and the other is on offense. Three Mainframe Capture points must be destroyed. Destroying the (Green) and (Blue) mainframe together will unlock the (Red) mainframe which is the final target to be destroyed.
*1-C) Thermosphere Battle mode: This is a game mode that both Eve(game) and Dust X will have added to each other and play directly with and against each other. This battle is fully a Space Flight sim shooter experience. battle consist of 2 teams of 120 players battle in the Thermosphere and try to destroy each others main space station base, as well as each others fort stations and guard spheres in a titanic space battle of space ships. Many Different mini space ships to choose from with different roles to play each. Battle last until that faction's main space station is destroyed.
===============================================================================
2) More Social Interactions and Gameplay:
*2-A) Faction Space Stations: Faction Space stations are a social hub cities. Each faction has 2 Main Faction Space station hubs. Each can hold many players at once to all interact in a social non combat way. great place for role playing as well.
*2-B) Player Housing - Pods and Ships: Players can make their own small hub and design layout for it with a tool editor. Owner can invite players to join them there. It features larger hubs for guilds to build.
===============================================================================
3) Game Play Mechanic Changes:
*3-A) Combat Classes and Roles: The game now has combat classes with different roles, rather than the current armor type design. There are still armor types to choose from. But Classes have their own features.
*3-A-1) Medic Class: The Medic uses an all new method of support. a Nano Gun. The Nano Gun has a short range and a spread of effect. The Nano Gun shoots out a cloud of Nanos that heal allies in the cloud over time until fully healed. Medic tree increase rate of Nano Gun heals. Nano Gun also revives 1 ally at a time. Using Nano Gun places it on cooldown to recharge every few seconds.
*3-A-2 Engineer Class: The Engineer can create plasma shields on allies to block damage. Engineers have repair gun that can repair vehicles, as well as bots. Engineers can create bots to manually control and move around to scout or attack players.
*3-A-3 Special Ops Class: This class specialize in staying hidden from scouts and radar, while maximizing short range attacks like melee, shotguns, pistols, and other off hand weapons.
*3-A-4 Space Knight Class: Space Knight is a class built on heavy defense. Has unique armor type unlike other classes. Uses powerful heavy weapons
*3-A-5 Shout Class: This class has special hover pack that allows short term flight to hard to reach places. heavier armor reduce flight ability.
*3-A-6 Warlord Class: the Warlord Class has special field aura effects they can activate for shoot boost to allies in the area, or negative effects on enemy in the area. Warlords are better at detecting enemies with their radar.
*3-B) Shields removed: With the introduction of the Engineer class role, shields on suits are greatly reduced.

With me and my ideas at the lead of this project, Dust would be a Smash Hit.
Oh well. I did enjoy making that list above though, even though it wont happen. |

So how do you intend to implement open world maps for all of New-Eden's 67,253 planets?
Ignoring that you can't pull this off technically, what are the ramifications of spreading the player base over such a vast space?
Assuming that players could actually find one another to shoot at, would they be happy about being forced into stereotype roles?
... TREY_Trey, exactly how much thought did you put into these ideas?
1) aiming at 15k simultaneous players goal, that would be a few worlds battling at once. So thats a few worlds. Not all worlds in the EvE universe will have battles. Only a few. and they designed for Dust combat, but EvE faction war. So the goal isnt/never was to have one 3k population planet per 67k planets.
2) Yes. Because Roles only dictate special roles. Play style is up to the player except Space Knights who have unique weapon and armor play style. As I said, the Armors and weapons can be chosen by preference. But a Engineer for example can still play a shotgun close quarter build. Or a sniper build with heavy armor. etc. a Medic can play light armor or heavy armor shot gun build. whatever. play style doesnt change. Medic doesnt have to use their Nano Gun for example. They can play full offensive role. But only they have access to the Nano gun to heal allies. Thats a special feature to them. When players spawn they can choose which class and loadout they want to play. So easy to change classes, and not locked into a single class the whole game.
3) a lot actually. Enjoyed making this as well. |

as I explained in the first part, Dust 514 and Dust X share cross play with the game modes that Dust 514 currently has.
Dust X will sport additional game modes that arent on Dust 514. Like the Persistent World battles. Dust X has it, but Dust 514 doesnt. |

Some of you are just posting that my idea are bad without explaining why they are bad. Anybody can denounce something.
I can say the upcoming NBA draft is going to be bad even with Wiggins/Smart/Parker/Randle and the crew in it. But what meaning does that have if I don't explain why its bad? Nobody viewing that criticism would take it serious.
But in a discussion forum we discuss why such things are bad , and what kind of changes to the idea would make it a good idea. Most of you did no such thing. Just denounced the idea w |

This is a discussion forum. I just shared the changes I would do in the development planning changes to Dust game if I were the lead developer. Lead developer is the person that keeps the vision of the development together. They are the glue that hold the team together to tackle the same goal. I know that for sure.

But in a discussion forum we discuss why such things are bad , and what kind of changes to the idea would make it a good idea. Most of you did no such thing. Just denounced the idea w Your idea is bad because you have no ******* clue how to code and develop video games that's why it's a bad idea for you to be a lead developer. you just think little fairies will be able to do it in 2 days while you sit back and think you are just so smart because you have idea's, and can't believe CCP was able to get so far without you there telling them what to do. Coding isn't the lead developer's job. That's what the programmers do. I never said anything about 2 days. You said that. Stop trying to put words and assumptions in my mouth. The ideas I had in the OP are reasonable. Some of it takes time like all projects, but the ps4 is a better environment for developers this time around. Much better hardware as well to do things the ps3 could never do. Ps3 version of dust would only hold the ps4 version back if they both had to be 100% the same. Which is why I envisioned to split the two into two separate games that have cross play features. This allows DustX, as I call it, to branch off into new ideas that set the game apart from other console fps games of the genre. Right now, dust 514 is not doing that. |

You know when someone as really over thought something. You should add a abstract to the top, and give us your idea in a easy to read paragraph. Then if interested I can browse your more detailed explanation.
What are you speaking of? I gave the ideas in easy to read sections.

He'll come now... Same concept as what's in the game really, just more in depth . Think about it. Can't you already throw down fields to regen armor and shields? Why not take it to a new level ? The skilled warlord players would stand out from the novice warlords, since you have to know when and how to use your auras at the right time during the right situation. |
