3. But in a discussion forum we discuss why such things are bad , and what kind of changes to the idea would make it a good idea. Most of you did no such thing. Just denounced the idea without explaining why the idea is bad, nor gave suggestions on how to make the idea good if you see it as bad.
1. You are in essence applying for a job. You don't even know what job it is you are applying for. You are applying to be a game designer but you think that has the influence of a producer. Developers are responsible for the programming and making things functional.
2. Really? This is your best foot forward? I got news for you, you don't get to keep your ideas if they are infeasible. You have to make things work no matter what. Tempering your expectations and building upon the established framework is a much wiser course of action then scraping everything and starting over just to meat your vision.
3. You do not get that privilege as a game designer. We can put forth ideas but we should not be expected to do your job for you. It's sink or swim and there's no life savers around.
In addition you need to sell your idea and make adjustments so it's a good idea. You should be asking questions instead of making accusations. You should be willing to compromise and explain why you want something in game. If it doesn't have a reason other than I want it, it is low priority.

2. The ideas I had in the OP are reasonable.
3. Some of it takes time like all projects.
4. But the ps4 is a better environment for developers this time around. Much better hardware as well to do things the ps3 could never do. Ps3 version of dust would only hold the ps4 version back if they both had to be 100% the same.
5. Which is why I envisioned to split the two into two separate games that have cross play features. This allows DustX, as I call it, to branch off into new ideas that set the game apart from other console fps games of the genre. Right now, dust 514 is not doing that.
1. Yes it is. You're thinking game designer.
2. Some of it is reasonable, others are nothing more than vanity. You do not need to push numbers, size and scale. A game designer should be thinking about there team. Why put an unreasonable amount of work on your level designers, art team, programmers and everyone else just so your ego can be satisfied?
3. All of it takes time and you should respect or at least acknowledge the contributions of everyone on your team.
4. There is no magic button that automatically makes things better. Sure there will be an expansion on what can be done but the primary limitation for MMO's is bandwidth and lag. You seem to be under the impression that the PS4 will not have bottle-necking, throttling or delays simply because it's newer. Sure you can make it look prettier and embellishing the hell out of a single player campaign but that's not the only factor.
5. Dust has a lot of potential, like many other games. Seeing potential and bringing it out should be what you are focusing on. You say it needs cross-play so how would you expand the Dust/Eve integration? Why does it have to be Dust/Eve/X? How can you branch off from other FPS's and why would you go the RPG route rather than, say, Adventure and Metroid-vainia? |
