This statement leads me to believe that you don't know what you are talking about in regards to current dropships, Missile turrets are not hard to kill with and hybrids are absolutely terrible weapons to use on a dropship for killing infantry, the ppl that manage to do so are the exception rather than the rule, the only advantage of the incubus currently is that its slower speed and maneuverability makes it better for aiming, its reps are 3 times more powerful due to a bug and its hardeners last for 60 seconds rather than 10.
I think a much better idea for improving ADS would be to give the pilot control of all 3 guns on the ship, change the location of the gunners guns to be more to the front and have all 3 firing towards where the pilot is aiming, hell if they did that it would be almost over powered, atleast when it comes to shooting tanks.

There was talk of a bomber dropship variant though I doubt it will be all that good, i picture the bombs dropping directly out of the bottom and the pilot not having a main gun anymore, do you spend a lot of time flying the ADS?
I've clocked a lot of hours in it, after driving tanks a lot I find its survivability to be refreshing, and flying is just more fun 100 times over, I don't have a lot of trouble killing people with an accelerated missile launcher its certainly not easy but you can really make ppl scuttle for cover once you start hitting them with it, I think the best i've managed so far in my incubus is 34/0 with the average game being between 10-20 kills.
In theory I think medium turrets could be good on them, especially if they are designed more along the lines of being AoE weapons, I'd like to see the medium missile turret being like the large where it fires bursts of missiles but with more emphasis on splash dmg, and the hybrid blasters being 2 guns side by side that have a good scattering so that you can pepper an area with fire but need to come in quite low to really waste ppl.
Railgun... bastard child that it is should be more like a forge gun in both power and range.
Still I think my idea would be better for the ADS, and larger turrets should be reserved for the soonTM heavy aircraft. |
