LOL this again.
A control device is a control device. IF the mouse and keyboard is so amazingly better, why do I have to use the controller to fly dropships?
If the KB/M is so superior to the controller, then why are the best guys in my corp ALL controller users?
Why dont everyone dump there controller and get a KB/M ? Its just a control device. That's it. This isn't a RTS game like Starcraft 2 where you need the precision of the mouse and all of the extra keyboard short cuts to control armies.
If there is proof that KB/M IS better than the controller at FPS`s in some quantifiable way then I would be happy to look.
(This being said currently sensitivity on the controller needs to be higher. This would match any turning speed of the mouse should you want the lack in precision that comes with the fluidity of looking around really fast.) |

You are quite right, most people just defend their own turf, whereas those who realise that they got an advantage simply shut up. It's understandable... I try to speak up for reason as a mouse user, but all I get for it is that DS3 users consider me the devil incarnate for using a mouse, while insecure mouse users accuse me of lying and having a secret pro-AA agenda. :)
Usually I find that game communities tend to be split up between the mainstream, and the competitive communities. The mainstream community usually hangs around the developer's forums (just like this one) and generally talks a lot of nonsense. The competitive community tends to be better informed, but also full of vitriol. Now here we only get this one community, and it gets the worst of both worlds.
It's not easy to change either, because there is no objective measurement of skill in the game, so everyone mingles with everyone. That's a blessing, but also a curse.
Does it destroy the game though? No, I don't think so. CCP isn't entirely stupid and can draw their own conclusions. We don't always like it, but it's not like CCP does everything the majority wants. The only things that truly suffer from this are our nerves and the image we portray towards new members of the community. |
