Then if we evade a scan shouldn't we be given WP too?
I'm thinking of the scouts in particular to encourage their use more. I use them when our team needs it and in 1.4 I found they work great. I can put a much needed uplink in far off areas, recon a area ahead of the squad and even assassinate troublesome targets. I think the problem currently is that players see it only as 'A fast suit' when really they miss the point. The Basic light frame (not even the scout) right out of the box is below the precision of the Basic scanner - that is what should be highlighted. Its about stealth, and I want to encourage this style of play and reward the player for choosing it.
Yes getting a kill on a guy when he's alone is good, and well worth the points, but this is a team game and his buddies will know what happened and be hunting for you. After all, if there is no benefit of evading the scan you may as well just run when they detect you instead. and other suits can do that better |

It's obvious why: you already benefit. Same goes for not being scanned. Being able to see where the enemy is, where they're faceing and what equipment they have is benefit enough. Hell I was happy in 1.2 with the scanner so why give WP to something so massively useful? Isn't the well placed orbital thanks to the scan enough without getting assists on top? |

I feel it is no different than gaining an assist for shooting someone, but instead of damage you are providing intel. My though on it. My understanding from the Dev's is that this will be the case but to get back to OP I'm trying to encourage the use of scout suits for their intended purpose of stealth. My argument is that if the scanner, an already massively useful piece of equipment is getting points it doesn't really need, then why not the suit? It also isn't getting much use and doesn't have specialist equipment like the heavy so why not reward its strength more? |
