The MD is amazing!
When 1.4 rolled around, I made a thread stating I would spec into MDs because everyone hopped onto the high RoF, mid to long range bandwagon. Finally getting operations to level 5, the joy I feel can hardly be contained. With the EC-3 Assault (Boundless is unnecessary), not only am I able to successfully use it as an area-denial support weapon, but it works wonders in 1v1 situations as well.
I will admit that I have probably died more times from my own explosions than from enemy fire, but the MD is such a great weapon to use for the medic logi.
If I see a felled or severely injured teammate surrounded by reds, a quick volley of 8 shots is enough to clear the area, enabling me to provide a res or rep whilst catching me a couple kills or assists in the process. Even better is when I have to hold down an area. Throwing out two K-2 Nanohives whilst perched on an elevated platform ensures that I keep reds from capping an objective as I rain down grenades from above.
Recently, I have also been able to handle myself in 1v1 scenarios. I am sure this relates to the downgraded aim assist, but with about 600 or so EHP, I am able to survive slightly longer than usual, thus giving me the chance to unload a good amount of well-placed shots into my opponent, securing my win or killing us both in the process.
In my opinion, the Assault variant of the MD is vastly superior to that of the standard and breach. Although the direct and splash damages of the EC-3 are about half of the EXO-5, the larger clip size, ammo capacity, and faster RoF more than makes up for what it lacks.
With no experience of the "OP" 1.3 MD, I will say that the 1.4 MD is still very much a viable weapon for any type of combat. |

wish I could still use my MD, but thanks to 1.4 HD +AA being a scout with a MD is suicide. Maybe now that AA has been toned down I'll start using it/ |

it's more viable now that they ninja nerf AA, all the cool kids start to strafe again thinking that it will save them, when AA was full on and no one was trying to 1v1 like rambo, it was more difficult to get in good range for mass **** |

in the new maps i feel like the assault actually do better, but when theres a little more open area and not too much choke point the EXO/Freedom will always be better for 1v1 , i never liked the boundless, but i have to agree those staircase fight and secluded outpost that we got in the new maps call for them |

Well, there hasn't really been any real change to the MD besides the fact that it worked. When a weapon works after not previously working or starts competing with ARs then its looked at as OP.
The first 10 days or however long it was until they dialed back the aim assist, using an MD was basically a death sentence. You couldn't fire a couple rounds without getting your head taken off in the blink of an eye. Since they did dial it back, it's back to being a viable weapon, and able to compete with most on 1v1s.
In my opinion, the Freedom and standard variants are the cream of the crop. The direct damage is amazing, the splash gets the job done, and not to mention you're less likely you hurt yourself in CQC. At proficiency IV with 1 complex damage mod a freedom will two to three shot a fair amount of suits with direct damage.
Honestly they're both (standard and assault variants) good though. The breach just sucks. |

yeah breach sucks, i've just seen too many of my shots dead on, pass right through, so frustrating, but it happens less now that they've fix it |

So, I decided to try a few games with the standard Breach (I wasn't about to waste 70k+ for the Proto variant) and my experience wasn't too bad. It reminds me more of a skill-shot weapon than anything else: probably similar in likeness to that of the Plasma Canon. If anything, I might consider running it for a day or so just to see what else it can do. |

Or people are relying on it too much? Either way mh MD has been plenty viable right from the get go!! Just don't try and beat someone at range, and remember the flare effect is your friend!! |

With a 15% Corp Tax rate and netting slightly over 200k per match, running a Boundless is not worth the money considering I only have 40 some mil. |

It all sounds good. But that area denial weapon thing and support weapon thing isn't exactly the entire story. Went 28-0 with EC3 last night and i'm not even a logi. Carry an EC3 and get someone to Carry the EX0, lol... The game will change very quickly |

Do not get me wrong, the support function of the MD is great and I'm not trying to relegate it to just that. Personally, I went somewhere around 25-3 the other night with a Damage Mod and Armor stacked fitting just to see how effective I could be. With no other equipment besides standard Nanohives and no grenades, the killing potential of the MD is brutal if one is in fact aiming for that type of play style. I, on the other hand, enjoy playing out the Medic and support role. I'll leave the slaying to the slayers. |

I love the MD i still haven't gotten my proficiency level up because i am interested in the new weapons that may be coming out in 1.5 but the MD is great in its intended role, almost too good which is why people may scream OP but if you are in an elevated position you can easily keep the enemy suppressed, any brave souls will have a pretty explosive demise. I've gotten lots of hate-mail calling me a camper but i just say i open up my candyshop and let the customers come on in.
I also like to kill any Amarrian soldiers while yelling "Let Freedom Rain"... get it....? like "Let Freedom Ring"..........you know with my freedom mass driver and how Amarrians try to enslave every race they come upon....and the peace speech bout all races being free and equal.....no, you don't get it!!!??

A lot of people forget its also a short range breaching tool, used to mop up weaker enemies, the insta-perma-death helps to push the line!!
However prehaps it should be changed to a percentage chance to insta skill, enemies can then spec into a 'suspended sentence' skill that reduces the chance of insta killing!! |

I think the Breach MD is more of an AV mass driver, a flux and a clip of that could put some work on an Armour tank or potentially kill shield tanks if shields are down. The breach is not a infantry focused variant because there is no way anyone can consistently hit a moving person directly although not impossible through luck. It sucks either way better off with swarms or AV grenades in your pocket. |

Maybe I'm just really good with the MD, but between 10 and 15m, no AR has ever beat me 1v1.
It's absolutely perfect.
I prefer the Exo and Freedom, though, for indoors and the assault for outside. |
