So I'm not often the one to rage and QQ on the forums, but this issue has been getting to me a bit and I was hoping there'd be some tech savvy people out there who could help me understand
What the hell is up with this game constantly breaking systems?
So lets get this straight. I can perfectly well understand how a newly implemented system can clash with an existing one. I can also understand how some systems and features don't transfer nearly as smoothly from the internal tests to the live server. But does it really happen this often?
I've been gone for 5 months (due to unforseen circumstances) and upon coming back I see a host of new features that seem quite interesting ... and half the stuff that was working just fine is now broken o.0.
For starters, Scotty. The matchmaking system, although very imperfect, still worked rather well. I had no problems getting into a game before. Simply select a game type, waited for deployment, and jumped into the match. It was really that easy, and I could even do it with a full squad of 4 (back then) to 6 (what it is now) no problem. These days? From what I've heard from fellow corp members, it's nearly impossible to enter a match of any kind with a 6-man squad. Supposedly 5 is the magic number to reduce problems. And I saw it first-hand. Myself and 5 other corp members formed a squad and managed to play a single match in the space of two hours as a full team cause we were fighting with Mr. Scotty and his matchmaking issues. By the end of the night, I simply jumped ship cause I kept being left behind by the matchmaker.
Secondly, the spawns in Ambush. Okay so back before I vanished the spawn system still needed a bit of work. I have to admit however, that it was working rather well. I wasn't spawning in the middle of a pack of reds nearly as often as before the fix and even when I did, it wasn't usually more than 3 enemies nearby. Nowadays, although the initial system is still working, I've seen my ''Spawn into a pack of enemies'' rate go up. Not only that, but the groups I'm spawing into are larger than before. Perhaps the system was tweaked a bit ... and if it was it was tweaked in the wrong direction. I'm still spawning near allies in these cases ... but most of them are off my radar and those nearby are at the edges.
These are the two most recurring problems I've had since my return ... and needless to say I'm a little disappointed and somewhat confused as to how these systems, which were working just fine a few months ago, are broken again now. Do these features really work the way they're supposed to in the internal test? If so, why are there so many problems when transfering to the live server? I just don't get how there can be so many problems in a game like this, when it's said there's been extensive internal testing before setting up on the server.
It saddens me more to realize how far we are from getting this game to where it's supposed to be ... there's so much this game is capable of but if we can't get the basics of the game right ... we'll never see the game reach that point. |
