Now mind you the subject of Tibus Heth is not black and white, before him the Caldari Society was in a very slow decay of apathy which was entirely plagued by nepotism and severe corporate cronyism without purpose, straying far from the founding principles of meritocracy and military culture.
Upon returning meritocratic principles back to the Caldari, he immediately made enemies with all the CEOs of all the other corporations for getting rid of cronyism. Tibus Heth also did not give himself any special treatment (even when it came to his illness) and considering himself a military servant first and foremost before a leader. There are groups who suffered under him but the majority benefited from his rule, he parallels Pinochet of Chile.
The only thing Tibus Heth was guilty of was that he was still close to the incident which fostered an independent Caldari State, military focused, the whole vs the few, and retaking back their homeworld.
Things went really south for Tibus Heth when he ultimately took hostages at the Caldari mining facility to fight the war, which is confusing considering his popularity being able to get him most things and the small benefit it would have given even if he succeeded in that errand would have been small.I guess it was one of those fact is stranger than fiction or else I would be thinking it was just bad story telling.
Yet even the majority of vocal Caldari players hated his guts, which got me wondering how a gray character like Tibus Heth got painted solid black so easily as if pre Tibus Heth Caldari did not have crippling faults before him. Its almost as if there is a large segment of Caldari that are wanting to shift towards a more liberal low key Gallentean way of life, as if they are wanting to white wash the Caldari Otherwise the inability to see the gray is confounding to the basic principles of judging based on merit. In which case the Gallente's goals of assimilation would easily be compatible for this Caldari segment as they can just submit themselves over to the Gallente.
Not saying whether it was right or wrong for the CEP to do what it did, but the reaction suggests a less rational response and a more liberal response to the string of events.

if I remember correctly (that battle was so long ago, I remember a little of what went down in space while I shot the enemies on the ground) the captain refused to obey heth's order which saved the planet for everyone.
He did and not only that he demanded that pilot commit suicide (which the pilot did), Heth regretted it later as made it known per his speech admitting his wrongdoing. This was also despite the fact that Caldari Prime was a success, so the need for such is unknown.
Similar to how Dust Mercs had visions of the fallen Titan before the event as if there were higher forces scripting the course of history, the complete irrational turn in Heth also seemed to be more a kin to fate than natural progression.
Which my point was before these acute and recent strange turn in direction surrounding Heth, he was by and large a benefactor to the Caldari and their ways, particularly setting the corporations in their place. Yet this bit is apparently not part of the equation when measuring Tibus Heth overall. |
