There have been many threads about scouts from people relaying their personal experiences of the suits, whether good or bad, but at the end of the day these threads are primarily subjective and opinion based. So, I wanted to collate some of the irrefutable objective facts about scouts to shine a light on reality:
Ehp: Gallente scouts have 39% less and Minmatar 40% less eHP than their assault equivalents.
Speed: Gallente scouts are only 9% faster than gallente assaults. Minmatar scouts are only 7% faster than minamatar assaults. This is the same across all tiers.
CPU: per slot standard and advanced gallente scouts have 5% and 6% less CPU than their respective assault suits. The proto is actually pretty much the same, if not a tad better than the assault in this respect (note that this is affected by the assault getting a fittings reduction bonus to hybrid weapons).
Minmatar scouts get really shafted here with their standard, advanced and proto scouts getting 18%, 19% and 12% less CPU per slot than their assault counterparts.
PG: Oddly enough, scouts get significantly more PG per slot than their equivalent assault suits. At proto level the gallente gets 22% extra and minmatar gets 15% more.
I'm really not sure why scouts have been designed to be PG heavy and CPU low.
Also should be taken into account is the scan profile because that actually matters with active scanners these days but basically you have to get level 5 in scouts (or level 3 in scouts and dampening) to avoid advanced scanners.
So there are some bare numbers - if anyone else has specific numbers they'd like me to add/look into, let me know and I'll add them in/search them out.
Make what you will of these figures but the basics are that currently scouts get a tiny bit more speed and a fair bit more PG for far less eHP and CPU. |

Oswald Rehnquist wrote:I don't understand why you are normalizing through slots, cpu/slot and pg/slot doesn't tell much of a story. Give the scout one slot at proto level while maintaining their cpu/pg levels and by your metrics scouts just become a lot more effective, which is literally the opposite of what one slot allocation would do. I don't understand how you figure - if you get an extra slot but no extra CPU/PG, you get a lot less CPU/PG per slot, which is much worse. |

I don't understand how you figure - if you get an extra slot but no extra CPU/PG, you get a lot less CPU/PG per slot, which is much worse. Here is an example of why your math is not very well representative of the issue at hand when you simply say 5-6% less cpu per slot Suit A 500 CPU 5 Slots Suit B 100 CPU 1 Slot By your math these suits are of equal value Ah okay, I see what you're getting at but that's not really what I was saying - I never said that because they have similar CPU/slot they are just as good. It's just an illustration of fittings capabilities. As it stands we have suits with slots that can't be used as effectively as any other type of suit - that's all I'm saying by that. I could add that scouts also have less total slots than any other suit too but that's pretty obvious, so does it really need to be stated? |

Django should also include the number of slots in comparison to assaults to complete the discussion and make it crystal clear that scout has both: fewer slots and less CPU per slot Okay, I've added a line to say about the fewer slots too. I suppose it is indeed a fact and an easily quantifiable one at that. |
