what is the point of CRW-04 Scrambler Rifle? (initial ADV one)
it's almost 10 times the cost of the base one, but I see no difference in stats

Basically. It may not seem like much but it really does help, especially with the charged shots. |

Wait... 75.6hp vs 72hp, , is worth 9,000 more ISK ? ! ! ! !

You be amazed how much 10 damage at meta 14-20 is worth. (about 20 billion more) |

Add proficiency, damage mods, and the charge shot bonus and it does a ton more damage. Also I notice subtle differences which aren't listed in the stats, like the CRW able to fire a follow up shot after the charge shot much quicker than the standard ScR. |

Scrambler Rifle+Prof.5+Complex DMG Mod= 109.62 per shot (to shields)
CRW+Prof.5+Complex DMG Mod=104.4 pershot (to shields)
So lets pop off 14 shots.
Scrambler does 1461.6 dmg (to shields)
CRW does 1534.68 dmg (to shields)
That's a 73 dmg difference. Now ask yourself does that matter between life and death? Sometimes it does, other times it doesn't

Thank you for the corroborating math, that I will *never care* about such silly things. I'd rather save hundreds of thousands of ISK over the long haul, than survive that one or two times that will actually make a difference :D (not to mention I'll never have both those things up to 5!)

It has +5% damage, and +5% range. Not bad for ~9k isk more than standard. |

If you think that is shocking compare the standard to the prototype. |

Use it with a modded controller. You'll wonder (once again) how CCP could have not seen this coming when they relesed it. It pretty much destroys anything, with a modded controller. Only works on the single shot/high damage scrambler rifles like that one, and the Imperial SR. |

Sounds pointless considering it overheats
Good try to get it nerfed tho |

Much to my initial amazement, when modded, it overheats slower. No joke. |

Overheat is based on time being fired, not times fired, as all the previous overheating guns had a consistant fire rate (Laser, HMG, Turrets). CCP needs to clean that up, but it'd take a decent amount of programming time to alter the way that specific overheat works while not borking the Scrambler Operations and Amarr Assault skills. |

Because substituting their line of code....
if(GetKey.Down(Keycode.MouseButtonLeft)) { FireGun(); StartHeatTimer(); }
private void StartHeatTimer() { //Run their heattimercode }
With this is soo much work right?
If(GetKey.Up(Keycode.MouseButtonLeft)) { FireGun(); HeatGun += 5; }
Its most likely a bit complicater then this but changing the timer that adds heat should be fairly easy to get swapped out by a set amount of heat, and most likely the heat code is a seperate piece of code because the laser rifle uses it aswell. |

I'll try and remember to test this. I can run macros on my mouse so it shouldn't be difficult. |

New Eden is all about the 'minor' bonuses, with 5% increase in performance matched by exponential increase in costs. Some people find them worth it, some people don't. YMMV. For me, GEK > AR, CRW > ScR in terms of preference, but I hardly fit proto weapons just because they kill off your CPU/PG compared to ADV, and a logi needs all the fittings it can get for the equipment. |

The player does not "feel" that bonus, unless it is realized through excessive volume. That is where a modded controller comes into play. It works well, and there is a difference in the two types of SR with said method. |
