All vehicles* show up on Scans for my Logi work. I am not certain what you are actually talking about.
If you are talking about the mini-map that is driven by TacNet. Which the original lore tells us that Mercs share data between squads and teams (to a lesser extent). During Closed Beta one could watch individual Mercs running around on the overhead map (respawn screen, Down on the D-Pad or OB strike option). Then in Open Beta that disappeared but you could spot them by the sun glinting off their equipment. Little sparkles was the best way to describe it.
Then Uprising was frowed up (aka released) and slowly we lost even more. The sparkles are gone. We can still see weapon fire although not always in the mini-map. Add that to the Famous Graphic Optimization that resulted in pretty grass but not being able to see a target nor an attacker the game is more of a ... challenge. Yeah, that's a good word. The real word would get me banned.
The CCP/Shanghai plan became crystal clear when they announced the release of the Scanners. Scanners that worked! Which was much better than the original scanners that did the opposite of work. Now to find the Reds someone in the Squad must have a Scanner. The vehicle scanners work but will not generate WP. So find the Reds but get no WP for it while all the Mercs on the ground will. Cool.
So, the lore is wrong. In fact the TacNet lore was deleted in all practical aspects. Now TacNet does nothing. One cannot even find their own Squad mates. Well, you can. If you have line of sight and you pull out a weapon with sufficient range to target them. That will let you know where they are, who they are and how their shields/armor is doing. Repeat for each squad member. This drives the voice system (fragile as it is) to new loads because now the Squad Leader and the Logi Bros are trying to find the actual location of their mates by voice as TacNet will provide no data. Squad Leaders place squad commands then ask who received the circle of death.
TL;DR
Less and less is going to show up on the mini-map. Unless someone spends SP, ISK/AUR and an equipment slot.

* To make tanks more Fun CCP/Shanghai is going to gut them. Making them visible will be easy then, just look for the smoke. Which will not show up on the mini-map. |
