With so much potential and having such a high bar that has been set in terms of complexity and depth, why did CCP decide to make Dust a F2P service with such a small development team? Clearly they want to create an intricate real time war simulation and with its integration into Eve/New Eden, I would think CCP as a company and a name brand would want to devote a reasonable amount of development time into the game. As it is going to impact the Eve universe, it seems as if it is important to 'get it right'. With such a mundane release and (currently) underwhelming game play, what's the goal here?

I take it you haven't been watching FanFest and their development videos. Hey, that small team did do EVE, ya know. |

CCP is still very independent publisher (and probably one of the largest types of indie) and well... let's just say their marketing is not the best when it comes to getting new folks to even try or overhype a game into first place. |

Dude, their bad marketing is doing them a huge favor right now. They shouldn't spend a dime on advertising until we're at a decent release that isn't broken, and Eve integration is a little deeper (removal of NPC strikes from PC, opening up more than Molden Heath). |

Not disagreeing here, whole reason why folks like John Dekker and David Reid where recent hires. |

I'm also curious why some forum posters know too much what to do than the devs. |

EVE was still considered a beta by the gaming community at large in its 5th year.....it was a gradual road to success and now vastly considered the only MMORPG model to follow.. sandbox style vs storyline.
CCP has always been a take it as it comes kind of developer... aslong as people are fed and rent is paid they move on from there. |
