CCP Nothin wrote:We acknowledge that the current implementation of the skill cap still isn't quite there yet. It doesn't quite allow people to choose when to play as freely as we would like, and it also adds some unnecessary complexity when it comes to using active boosters. This is why we are working our way towards a rollover SP system: instead having your pool of bonus SP being reset according to a fixed weekly cycle, you will steadily accumulate bonus SP to a pool over time that you can then empty through fighting in battles. As a result, everyone should be able to better choose when to come in and claim the available SP. Moving to such a system would have the added benefit of allowing us to make active boosters to give out a constant value over time by having them influence the rate at which SP accumulates into the pool instead of just multiplying SP received at the end of each battle.

Yes make a system that rewards people for not being on more after you implemented a terrible system to entice people to log on.....

It would prevent you from falling behind everyone else. You have to actually play to draw SP from the stored pool. |

So it rewards the person for not being on.... and gives no benefit to the person who was other then getting the SP they played for... |

Catering to casual's is a death rattle for a game.... specially at this stage.. CCP has observed and competed directly with the biggest example of this in the entire videogame history. World of Warcraft.... Beating your family to give a stranger an apple is... interesting marketing....
But hey its worked out well for them with this strategy since uprising launch... a giant catering to casual's that has caused a mass exodus, and loss of faith.
This is another example of wasted man hour's when so much of DUST is crying for attention. Investing money into this game's potential only lead's to them catering to people who don't. whats the point? |

The entire F2P model relies on the casual paying to climb faster, not the hardcore pro 1337 tryhard gamer whose life's work is to play the game all day er'ry day and has no need for cash items. You need the casuals, like it or not.
The failure of the game is not due to "catering to casuals". The problem is that we were shown videos of ships being blown up from a cross platform game featuring huge battles whose influence could shake up the core of both games with a single battle, while what we were given was an extremely buggy lobby shooter with a Farmville app. |

Casual's don't invest and your funny to think that... and the most elite DUST crowd is a whole separate crowd... and everyone's inability to see that is the problem....
Attracting new people to the game is one thing... that isn't a casual player base... and enticing people to invest into the gameplay depth of a game is COMPLETELY reliant on your hardcore group of gamers... not the developers. As games that have had no addition to content for decades still flourish and prove that.
This game has failed exactly because of catering to casual's... Between endless weapon tweak's that had no bearing on the overall game any more then momentary inbalances.. where addressed before core game mechanic issues... LAV buff's... tank nerf's... whilst not once looking at any half decent tutorial's even a payed youtube personality. No catering to new players... just casual's... this AA system does the same thing....
This is about choices ... CCP's choices. That brought DUST here from a successful beta(that they threw half in the garbage when they launched). This isn't EVE where they can screw over mass player populations and assume they will get over it because they pay a subscription... Console players will just go invest into something they have more confidence in.. |

So who does the money come from - The one that has everything or the one that wants everything?
Who are the people that could earn everything without paying - The full time employee or the middle schooler without a care in the world?
This is all beside the point, and I congratulate you on derailing the thread. 10/10.
Rollover SP. Promised on 5/21/2013 by CCP. Never forget. |

The fact that you think there is only two groups in DUST just speaks to the understanding.. I'm not here to blow smoke up CCP's ass while they waste more time on something that has very little bearing on DUST or the ability to grow the brand and player base.
other then allow people who don't play much to pool SP for later.... good job CCP...
Save it for fanfest...

Why not 1/23?

This is a discussion for another thread. This one is to keep the quote from CCP Nothin around to haunt the devs.

We have it on record that the SP system has been confirmed twice by CCP now. \o/ |
