Hahahaha! Hahahahahahahahahahaha! You're doing it wrong. Why you specialized in sniper rifles is beyond me. I'm a dedi Heavy at around 4 mil SP. I'm at level 4 shield and armor, level 3 plates and reppers, level 3 rep tool for my commando, level 4 FG and HMG, level 3 laser rifle and level one every other light weapon.
I'm dedicated to the roles I can play but in no way specialized.
As to your complaints... Doesn't the Army teach you about teamwork?
If you're not able to kill a guy because he ran behind cover, call that mofo out for your team. Or just HTFU and choose a different target that isn't in a compound. This isn't real life, everyone has shields and armor plating, you might be able to OHK a scout and some ill fit medium suits. Other than that, select your targets carefully, which is also something I would assume the Army would teach snipers to do. |

Wait I don't understand, your a totally inexperienced player who is making fun of someone for actually specilizing? You know, that thing that people do in this game that makes them good. 4 mil. sp. lol. I love that you bandy that number about like it means anything other than a lack of in game experience.
Oh, yeah, I'M the chucklehead. Specializing in something makes you strong against one thing. Focusing on a few different things makes you only slightly less strong against a few things.
This game isn't anything new. My in game experience doesn't mean I have no experience in playing games like this. I'm just trying to make a point that if I can do what he does, in game at 4 mil SP, that he has issues with at whatever amount of SP he has. He's doing it wrong. |

It's called Dropships. Buy a MLT one and get on top of a building or up in the mountains. There are plenty of cracks and crevices that are relatively easy to access, you just have to be adventurous... and I spec'd into level 1 snipers to use with my commando, I do alright.
Also, if you're going for bodyshots all of the time you're not going to take a well fit and intelligent heavy out easily... I've had my dumb moments, but I learned how to make snipers a non issue by sticking to the enclosed objectives when I can... If not I'm in an LAV moving between objectives... or hunting snipers down.
When there's an overwhelming presence from vehicles I'll switch to my FG to tower "snipe". More often than not I'll be getting hit by charge, kaalikota or even sometimes thales... which screw everyone over. When the sniper is able to predict my movement they can take me out with little to no problem. But when I'm outmaneuvering their aim they tend to go for body shots and that gives me time to hide and rep.
And we're dealing with a different universe... it's New Eden, present day, everything has energy shields that actively dampen the impact of projectiles and only the heaviest of suits have enough armor to survive intermittent sniper fire...
A .50 cal explodes a huge chunk of metal at about 2,800 ft/s... Destroys most of what it touches IRL.
Dust 514's sniper rifle (a railgun), magnetically propels a sliver of metal at around 2,500 m/s... If this was a weapon IRL it would be mounted, hard. Probably just because it would be too heavy. |
