All snipers and every sniper is a red line sniper. the gun doesn't actually function when outside there. that is why all the snipers are always there.
lol, I've personally had an entire squad targeting me in a PC before. A Dropship heading over to my/the usual spots, an LAV with vehicle scanner roaming around for the unlikely spots, and 2 guys on the ground looking for me. That's how much hate snipers have. Sacrificing a game to harass a sniper.
What exactly are snipers supposed to be allowed to do. they apparently aren't allowed to rack up kills. The game took away the capacity to survey by the F-up they call Uprising. And defense isn't allowed either.
There is so much irrational hate against snipers. None of us are sitting in the redline if we want to be helpful to our team. But the new maps make being helpful impossible anyway.
My PC role is home-point defense. No one disputes my skill at the Sniper Rifle. When I switched Corps, many people in the alliance were happy to longer die at my hands. And even if I'm sitting in the back with my eyes on the console, 3 people working in tandem can hack a point before I kill the second person (so be it none are scouts). most matches I play, I only go like 1-0 or 2-0. occasionally I go 10-1 and only a few times (out of hundreds of games) have I gotten the most kills on my team or even gotten over 15. But I was doing my job. It has been reduced to such a ridiculous degree from what I used to do in corp battles. And now that is going out the window.
I like that kind of area denial, or point defense. It is like fishing or hunting. You set out the bait, something they can't resist, and when they come for it you get your prey. That is fun for me.
It isn't like after 22 million SP I haven't specialized into any other weapons. I have two other light weapons at proto lvl and 3 proto sidearms. I'm skilled at (and skilled into) other areas and won't be dropped from a PC team because of the further impracticality of sniping but I know many that aren't. They never had a forum presence, but now they don't have a DUST presence either. They just left the game. They might possibly come back each month now to see the updates, but unless there is a drastic change in a positive way they won't play anymore. |
