After playing a match the other and in a dropship i was getting hit, so i moved away to work out were it was coming from . Well i never did until i died and the kill log said i was kill by a railgun @ 613m .
As i removed all the turrets from the battlefield i believe the was tureent in the red line i would lie to see it ccp would reduce the ranges on and only on red turrents
Red line turrents should only really protect the red line area not the whole battlefield doesnt make it fun when in a dropship or a tank on some maps
It hard enough in a dropship when we have FG and swarms with out the need for the red line turrents able to hit us all the way in to the battlefield

Turrets mate, turrets.
On topic, from my experience, most of those rail turrets have very specific line's of sight. |

Was it an actual turret doing this by automation or was it a player using a turret in order to kill you. I've done this myself using a railcannon turret to destroy a dropship from nearly across the map. While the range does seem rather odd I would not put it above the realm of possibility.
The ranges of turrets already are not that great, which is why tanks can destroy them from long distance and usually incur no damage. People also get points for killing neutral turrets, aka turrets that will never fight back. I'm sure you've killed plenty of these, gotten your points from them, so not exactly feeling to sympathetic when they got you back 1 time in return with an active turret. As you had even said you had destroyed most of the turrets on the battlefield already.
Either way, take your licks about it, I've fallen through the world, been crushed by friendly dropships landing on my head, had someone step in front of me when I had my FG fully charged and firing, had a gernade rebound on air to come back and kill me, been spawned into the driving path of an LAV, and all I can do is really laugh about it. Though the funnest of times is when I run myself over with an LAV by jumping out to fast and having the car skid over my body. |

What star dosent tell everyone here is when I was teaching him to fly the first bit of advice I cave him was
Dont be in a rush to get in the air at the start of a map call in an lav equip either a swarm launcher or a forge gun then destroy every rail and missile turret on the map, save tge blasters for when your in the air. There is no need to start tge mach and call in ads you have up to about 30 mins of gameply per game pending on machmaking so if you take 5 mins at the start of a mach to kill all tge turrets youll have clear skys.
Also if you have a tanker on your squad ask them nicely to prioritise rail and missile turrets at the start. |

I feel that it is well within the game mechanics to have the redline turrets keep their range. You wouldn't think of nerfing a player's swarm launcher would you? The turret was most likely also controlled by a player wanting to get the DS off the field that was working as a spotter (as if scanners don't do enough already). |
