To make the game a bit more easy for new players and more experienced players, I suggest a new battle type. It would be called Starter Battle or Militia Battle, simply because the only gear allowed would be militia gear. Nobody would have a huge advantage over the other and newer players could play in an area with no prototype users, this would allow newbies to gather more experience using gear they are more familiar with.
I suggest this because of the way matchmaking is set up right now, new players are mixed with veteran players which obviously puts the new players at a HUGE disadvantage.
The rewards could be altered so that significantly less ISK is earned in this game mode and the SP reward is slightly reduced to not allow SP farming of this battle type.
I played a game of the Battle Academy and I could pick out the experienced player's alts from the actual new player's main without any difficulty. New players are slower and like to test things out, the experienced players like to take advantage of this and pick off the newbies without hesitation. Battle Academy is a cool feature but will inevitably be plagued by this problem forever most likely.
Please CCP, do it for the newbies. Do it for the future success of DUST514.

KING CHECKMATE wrote:Simple:
-SKills DO NOT come in effect while in MLT battles. -You earn Some ISK (-+ of skirm) and Some SP (2/3 of skirm) -This battles dont affect your overall stats. No K-D ratio and Kills and WP stats stay the same -STD level weapons/equipment accepted (For more variety while we get MLT versions of everything, itsn ot like MLT AR cant beat LR LOL)
This way this mode would be a good place for newbies to practice their shooting, testing stuff at STD level vs other people of their same equipment level.
Also , vets and people with over 5+ million will not get in here since they wont be able to playat their full potential (being brought down to ''noob'' level) but they can still create a STD suit to test a new waepon. Also with ''no stats apply'' policy it cannot be used to ''pad'' stats by vets or pros.
Awesome ideas dude! |

Aikuchi Tomaru wrote:Ok. I would just make a militia gear fitting and join with 10+ Million SP Character. What you want is the Academy. This is already there. And besides that I'm against tiering the gameplay modes.
The academy is for fresh starters, this would be for everyone new and old to take a break from Advanced/Prototype stomping. As for "tiering", Im all for it right now. This wouldn't have to last forever, just until they get the matchmaking to work how it should. |

At lvl 5 shield and armor upgrades you get what? 100 extra HP on a heavy? I think this will still be better than being put in public matches against protos all the time. it depends on the suit. but theres also biotic upgrades giving you more stamina with quicker regen, theres the armor plate upgrade, shield extender, regulator, recharger giving you 2% effacy to each mod per point, the dampening and scanning skills can give an edge now more so than ever before, etc etc... plus the weapons upgrades, even a militia AR with15% more dmg with prof 5 has an edge over a militia AR with out it, plus reloading larger clip etc etc... you left quite a bit of advantage out there in your reply its better than militia vs proto... but that wasn't my point... my point is simply a vet will still have an advantage over a noob... i also said it wasn't a bad idea, means i support it.
To begin I Liked almost everyone's comments, for or against this idea. The feedback that you guys/girls provide is exactly what I, CCP, and many others wish to see in this section of the forums.
Some of you brought up a very good point that veteran players with more than 10 million SP would have a somewhat larger advantage over the newbies untrained skills. That said we could also do this, split the Militia Battle type into two levels.
Level 1) - Battles meant for anyone with, lets say, 3 million SP and lower. Level 2) - Battles meant for anyone with more than, lets say, 3 million SP to 5 million SP.
After hitting 3 mill SP you no longer qualify for tier 1 battles, this might sort out the more fresh newbies from the more well-seasoned ones. Now, after you "graduate" from Level 1 you have a choice; you either choose to go with the flow and get right into PC, FC or just regular Public contracts, or you choose to wait a little longer and hone your skills a bit more in Level 2 Militia Battles. Level 2 would allow the "seasoned-newbies" to continue doing Militia Battles but with other, more experienced, players.
Maybe even militia tanks could be allowed into Level 2, or maybe not, depending on what ya'll would prefer.
Keep giving your feedback/ideas, because that is what everyone would like to see. For or against I'll still read it. |
