Issue: Changing weapon whilst sprinting appears to increase your speed
Bug description: When going into a sprint, 2 things occur:
1) Your speed increases 2) the FOV (field of view) narrows slightly. this slightly enlarges the things you are looking at during the sprint.
If, whilst you are sprinting, you change weapon then the FOV resets to normal (but your speed stays the same). This makes widens your view and makes everything slightly shrink (back to normal), The effect is to make it appear that you are covering ground faster as smaller objects appear farther away and yet you reach them in the same time.
Repro instructions:
1) Equip a suit at least 2 weapons 2) Begin sprint 3) Change weapon
The effect is most noticeable when doing this in front of a wide hillock (that extends beyond the edges of your screen) from about 10-20 metres away. Confirmed as repeatable when changing between any weapon types, and to/from equipment.
(When I was doing the research for this bug I was actually intending to post proof of the speed boost. However, I discovered there is no such speed boost and instead found out *why* I thought there was one.) |

Tried it and its true. The effect is more noticeable if you're by the red line looking onto distant mountains. |

News flash: forge gun is heavier than SMG therefore of course you run faster with SMG than with FG? No speed boost happening there. |

No, your sprint speed does not differ at all - regardless of the weapon in your hands. If you examine the video you'll see that I swap from FG > SMG and SMG > FG and get the same affect each time.
I did some testing (but didn't get my wife to record footage) where I recorded the distance I could sprint whilst holding FG and SMG. There was no difference in distance travelled. This lead me to conclude there was *something else* which was causing me to think that I was going faster. |

Tried this with my forge heavy and my SR scout. What I have noticed is that the time to reach the target location is dependent on whether I have my sidearm out or my main out. Sprint speed is actually slower with the main out, but the difference is small. The change of speed with a heavy is almost unnoticeable. You'd have to cover a significant distance, obviously not done in the video, to notice the difference in a heavy suit. |
