I saw that recently made video of aim assist at work. I have a related question, but that thread is flooded with flames, sooo.. guess I'll start a new one :-/
When using scrambler rifle, hip-fire mode, aim assist on, I have noticed the following interesting feature.
I get the normal "open cross" crosshairs more or less on target. It goes nicely red. I squeeze off a bunch of rapidfire shots... but then something interesting happens. After I start firing, I start to see a small red 'X's on the enemy.
This is only while I'm firing. I'm not sure if they are "hit markers", or "tracking engaged" markers. The odd thing is, though.. they are almost never directly centered on my screen in the normal crosshairs. It's almost like it's saying, "yes I know that your cross hairs are (over there), but I've automatically adjusted where you are actually FIRING, to (over here, on the enemy" When this red X lights up, I am getting lots of hits. Trouble is, it happens so fast, I'm not sure if the red X is cause, or effect showing up.
Can anyone answer definitively on this?
I havent noticed this red X effect on any other weapon, so I'm rather curious.Hmm, actually, maybe scrambler pistol as well. Not that I use that many other weapons though.
I'll also mention that I tend to be doing this sort of thing at least 30m out from the target.

Its usually means you have contact on target, meaning your crosshair is hovering over a body part. Use pinpoint guns like the sniper rifle or center hipfire with forge gun. |

Err.. I do use sniper rifle. A lot *cough*. never noticed that with the rifle.
Is it equivalent to the sniper rifle red DOT turning red? Or are you claming should see an "X" on sniper rifle too? |

If you're hitting your target, you're probably getting hit confirms (shows you're doing damage) and the red color usually means your crosshair is on target. Not sure what you mean by it floating off center, sounds a bit odd but I never payed much attention to it so it could be a bug. |
